Anybody else's sunroof rusting?
I discovered last week that the sunroof was rusting. Its the part that the rubber gasketing fits into, and only on the lower portion. It seems that moisture managed to work its way into the tract that the gasketing goes into, then caused rust. I peeled back the gasketing today, and hit it with sand paper. Now its drying after I used rust sealant on it, then I'll put some black paint on it. Hopefully this wills top the rust. I checked the sides of the lip of the sunroof and it seemed to be alright. I'm thinking the only way moisture would have gotten in was when I had an american flag out the sunroof like I did for the ravens game. Except back then, I did not have a 2x4 with a hole drilled through it to disperse the force. So it might have rained and then moisture got in between the gasketing and the metal frame.
my car
my car was a 96se (built & sold in nov of 95) and there was never a dab of rust anywhere in or around the sunroof, or the car for that matter; except the metal piece that holds the battery, that had some rust on it.
