Has anyone changed their 5spd trani. or know a good amount about them?

I just blew up my trani and i need to know a lot. i know there are two different gear ratioed tranis they make for fourth gens but im not sure if either will fit in my 96 or which has smaller gear ratios. I have a non-locking differential too. Im not sure what the production year and month is for my car because it has been painted before. How can i find when it was produced (other the door jam)? Are there performance tranis made for these things? If any one has changed there clutch i would appreciate your inpute on which you used, how much you spent, and how it performed also. All posts appreciated, thanks.

Where did you get this info? All 4th gen tranny's are the same, both for auto and 5 spd. You can bolt up any 4th gen 5spd to your max.

Im pretty sure both will fit but there are two different gear ratioed models, which i was surprised to hear myself. It might work out to be the same ratio in the end if the locking and non-locking differentials have different gears. I heard this from two junk yards and a nissan dealership. there is a 96-10 (95-96 of oct.) and a 96-11 (nov. 96 and on). Again i really dont know enough about them yet, i havent had much time to do any serious research. Did you hear anything different or is that what your guessing (All 4th gen tranny's are the same)?

Umm Auto Maxima's are geared higher than 5spd to make up for that missing 5th gear.
Also
5spd- they dont sell differnet ratioed trannys, thats something you have to change your self
The only differnece between the Regualr vs LSD vs VLSD trannys is that they have a Limited slip differential inside, they dont have differnt ratios.

Someone post if im wrong

I understand the difference b/w auto and 5spd differentials man. What i wrote is what i heard from a dealership and jusnk yards, they were pretty sure of what they were talking about. If any one deffinitely knows what about these transmissions I'd appreciate your input but otherwise, guesses aren't helping me.
