Wide wheels on the Maxima....

Is it possible to run wide tires on the rear of the Maxima? If so do you any of you have any pictures? I know uncle max has wide wheels and tires, but I think he had to do something to make them fit. What is the widest you can put in the back?

Does this car look gey to you ??
His rear Volks are 1 inch wider than the front. Yes, it serves no purpose, but I cant see why its gey ?

He is saying its gay bc it serves no purpose, like it would on a mustang which the wider the wheel the better. If your looking for big do all four.

Humm, yeah, with a full interior, and 2 800 watt Fosgate amps , 2 eclipse aluminums, and a fiberglass enclosure. Spinning all through 1st gear, with a bald Nitto 555 in the front. I would say thats pretty good. Considering my best is 14.6 , im happy with that. I hope to go to a track with traction soon, and my new tires, and i know I will be in 14's no problem. Thats without my headers and ECU that im putting in soon.

I know you want your car to look like this

hey kloogy. Ever seen those Cobra R 4 lug wheels? 5 star? Andrew just bought a set $350 they are 17x9 he is going to run 275/40/17 rear and 245/40/17 front.

My wheels are 17x8 with 235/45/17 all you really need...

Thinking about getting 9.5" for the back with 275/40 and put the 17x9 up front.
Just remember, it slows you down more.

Yeah I really don't see the point of putting a huge wheel/tire combo out in the back of our cars. On RWD cars they're there for launch traction mainly. You'll probably be limited more by the front tires before you can take advantage of the rears...

Is it possible to tune the rear suspension of 4th Gens for a lot more oversteer? Then I could see a purpose I suppose. Just me guessing though.

for more oversteer, you need to use a smaller width tire in the rear. or crank up the rear spring rates. the larger rear tires wouldn't help oversteer control, they have no power to them. no way to modulate throttle in loss of traction situation.

hope the new rubber helps. just a suggestion slow down a smidge on the corner next time. There is a limit, no matter the amount of rubber in contact with the road, that the chassis can take. elimate body roll = neutral handling. wheels look sweet btw.

Damn bro... youre making it sound like your dropping a 383 stroker there, or a 428 SCJ.... you will have enough traction. Remember, its only a 3.0.....

As long as the suspension setup is well balanced, you can't have too much grip.
Sure we can line them up at Fontana, I will line it up with anyone. I dont really have much to prove cause we all know my old engine.

I am not going to speculate on the mountain accident, cause I dont know the details, but there are other things you can do to help out, SFC's would be a big improvement as well as sways (I dont know if you have those?). Just remember, you are modding a fwd 3,000lb car, you cannot make it handle like a race car, the front wheels break loose in a turn, you are screwed. Just be safe out there and try not to push your car to the limits.

I didn't modify anything. I just bolted them on. it was +35 offset

This helped the slowing down part =)

It's getting close woohoo

About the spinning out on the mountain. A lot of people tend to shift their stillen sway bar too far forward and will get a lot of oversteer. If you bar is in front of the rear beam, be prepared for HEAVY oversteer. It's just a fact of putting it to far forward, if you don't know how to drive a heavily oversteering monster, set the bar farther back. This is especially important on downhill corners, your rear is a lot more likely to come out unless you keep on the gas the whole time. Chebosto had the same problem when he spun out, his stillen was way far forward and he was on a downhill corner.

Personally, I get enough off throttle oversteer with my bar set slightly behind the rear beam.
