Water temp question // Just had water pump changed.

My water pump has been leaking for about 2 months now so today I took it to a shop to get it fixed. After I picked it up I noticed the water temp was running quite a bit higher than usual. On my Techtom, it was reading about 212 all the way back to work. Usually it runs around 190-195 on a cool day like today. So I get it back to work and check the coolant level. It was a little low so I added some and ran it. It stayed at 212. As I was standing by the engine I noticed a clattering sound from the timing chain area. So now I'm thinking my tensioner is messed up. I know the shop will take care of that problem, I'm just wondering what the deal is with the water temp. Is this normal or am I running hot for some reason?
