ABS question

I was just wondering if some of you guys could describe what ABS is supposed to feel like. I have never driven a car with it before and I find it a little weird.

In the rain I have tried slamming on the brakes and nothing. I actually am scared of slamming them all the way, its more like a hard stop going 60 kph or 40 mph. If I brake normally, I feel the vibration in the brake pedal just before I come to a stop or when the pedal is almost fully pressed down. Its a werid pulse, I almost thought it felt like grinding. But since it only happens in the rain I can only assume that it is the ABS.

Does this sound right?

Yeah driving ABS for the first time is kinda weird. I hate the vibration it gives off. At first I thought my brakes were grinding, but luckily it was the ABS kicking in.

Yes, the pulsing you feel is the ABS computer releasing pressure from each caliper when it detects that the wheel is going to lock up.

Also, when you feel that, do not let up on the brake pedal. In an emergency, keep it pushed as hard as you can until you stop.

Your not going to feel it all the time, with my car it only happens every once and a while. Usually in the rain or when I brake hard trying to stop at a red from a yellow I was trying to make

My brake pedal feels kinda spongy and weak, but it still stops my car in time, is this normal for abs on the maximas? My other one didnt have abs and the brake pedal felt firm and all the action was at the top...

Do you have feeling in your feet?

Yeah, in my experience you can easily feel it in Gm Fullsized trucks and SUV's.

Yeah I have this same problem. Its not real bad, but the pedal is a bit soft. I'm too lazy to try and bleed the brakes though to see if thats the problem
