bad gas mileage and more...

well guys i know my max is giving really bad gas mileage and i dont know what causes this...i drove to silver spring md from nj going about 85-95 in 4th..took me 3hrs and when i got there i only had little over empty remaining..and i use 89 oct....and the other thing that happens to me is that the gas gauge will say half this min and in another min it says 3/4...or it will be under a half is this normal...and another thing why does my car run rough..anyone with ideas please say...

Looks like you have a 92 SE, which means you have the VE. If you do, try running 92 octane gas. The VE should be run on no less than 92 octane.

Btw, I get about 300-350 in town driving on my 93 SE 5spd. 400+ on the freeway.

This is somewhat similar, but anyways. On my max the gas gage only works at 3/4 tank, 1/2 tank, and whenever i fill her up or when i'm on empty the gage is way above full. But sometimes out of nowhere it will stay on e when it is truly low then it will jump all over the place again.

It's really anoying.
