Reverse Indiglo Gauges

I just recently installed the RI gauges and me being the ******* I am, I totally ****ed up my guages. My temp. gauges doesn't work anymore and I'm not for sure if my speedo or tach is correct. Also, the lil pins the speedo and tach needles rest on wouldn't fit onto my new gauges so when I turn the car off, the needles drop about 3/4" below where they would normally sit. Can anyone give me any information on how to fix this problem or am I just gonna have to go get a new cluster?

Thanks,
Cole

First of all, let me ask ya a few questions. When you say tht your temp gauge, speedo and tach don't work anymore, what do you mean? Are they responding when you start/run the car? And when you put in your gauges, please PLEASE PLEASE tell me that you didn't take your needles off!

If you did, then you're screwed. But not so much that it's catastrophic, but enuff.

And you say that the pins that the speedo and tach needles rest on wouldn't fit onto the new gauges.... they DON'T! They aren't supposed to. If you took them off your factory gauges, put 'em back on. I don't know where you bought your gauges from, but I have yet to hear anyone's gauges that didn't have holes to accomodate those pins sliding into them.

Keep in mind, the gauge faces are OVERLAYS, not replacements for what you've got. If you looked at them as such, that's probably why you're having the problems you're having.

Well the speedo and the tach still work I'm just not 100% if they are correct. They are close to what they should be tho. And yeah, like I said in my first post: I'm a *******, I did take my needles off. I dont see how you were supposed to get the faces on w/o taking the needles off. I will try to get some pics and show you what I'm talking bout.

simple...you just turn the needle a little(to about 2 o'clock), and slide the face over...you have to slightly bend the face while moving the needle around to accomodate the bend.

Well, I wouldn't go so far as to beat yourself up and call yourself nasty names, but you should've checked with us before doing it if you weren't sure.

My first suggestion would be for the speedo. And I'm thinking you could verify if your speedo is working correctly by zipping by your local law enforcement official and see if he comes up behind you and 'corrects' it for ya, but I don't think you'd like how much that would cost.

So, my second suggestion would be to get one of your buds to follow you around town to get a rough idea of how fast he/she is going as opposed to what your speedo says.

Your tach should be at roughly 700-900 rpms at idle unless you've got some surging or other things goin on.

But the gauges DO slide over the needles... you just have to be a bit patient with them. And fix those pins on your gauges, too! I know when I did mine, I thought I broke mine off when it turned out that they just "pop" off.
