I just got back from my Dealer looking for a couple simple maintenance parts for my 1994 GXE. I replaced the battery over the weekend and noticed the terminal connectors are a bit stretched - they don't clamp down tight anymore. They seem to work ok right now, but I know they will be a problem. Nissan doesn't sell the terminal straps separately. You have to buy the entire positive and negative cable assemblies. $80.86 list for the ++ (p/n 24110-96E15) and $55.73 list for the -- (p/n 24080-85E00). Anyone know where I can get just replacement straps?

Next, my hood support gas springs are shot and in the cold weather the hood drops on my head without warning. Dealer wants $155.12 EACH (p/n's 65470-85E00 and 65471-85E00). WOW. Anyone know if there's an aftermarket replacement. Otherwise I'll go to the bone yard and wrench out a couple... or put a stick in the trunk.

Please clarify what you mean by "terminal straps"

 

By terminal straps I mean the connector that attachs the battery wires to the battery posts. Mine are made out of a fairly thin metal and after 10 years now they have stretched out and no longer clamp firmly to the battery posts. I can grab either battery wire and just jerk them off the battery with a tug.

you can get new battery terminals for just a couple bucks at any parts store.. If you want something nice, then go to car stereo shops- they sell them for anywhere from $10 each to over $100 each.

For just stock replacement, go to your closest parts store. they usually have them on the counter right by the cash registers. if not, they'll be back by the batteries- or just ask a salesperson and they'll point you to them.

 

Thanks Matt. I did try a couple parts stores but they only had the style that "clamps down" on the wire. I'll try the stereo shop - they should have them.

Yup.. that's the only kind you're going to find at parts stores. stereo shops sell much nicer looking connectors, but they're about $20 each for the cheaper ones.
you're still going to have to chop and cut no matter what you do, but the aftermarket connectors will work fine. I've used them on both my Maximas so far, and many others I've worked on in the past.

 

you may be able to find a compression terminal at a local p-store I got standard's part # for em if it helps any:
4 gauge = bp200
2 gauge = bp 201
