Nothing beats a fresh coat of wax. It feels even better when you do it yourself and save the $$.

RE: Grey Lustre Detailed..WORKING pics.....

Grey Lustre is definitely my favorite color. I rented a grey lustre 03 Max in Vegas and I'm really depressed that I got black now.

A few questions for you:
I'm in Queens too, Where did you get the detailing done?
What dealer do you use for service? (Queens Nissan sorta sux IMO)
2.75'' drop???? How do you handle the NYC roads with that?

I went out to Jersey. he's a .org member by the name of SQARD.
his website is www.atdetail.com - name is ANDY
great kid....knows his stuff about cars and i must say, he's a perfectionist. like he masks off the trim and the windows so no residue is left on it. when i picked up the car, i checked a whole buncha crevices and nothing, he cleaned it all up. even cleaned up my rims and polished up my greddy.

i have to give him props, cause the kid knows about detailing, detailing products, uses a variety of brands and products, so he knows which stuff is better for which application.
i already have my boy going to see him this weekend (mx-6) along with my girlfriend (mustang) and they're pretty anxious to see how the cars turn out.
he's in Rockaway NJ, RT-80 to exit 37, then a few minutes from there. easier to drop off and pick up the next day, cause he takes his time. took my car about 5-6 hours to complete.

Dealership, i don't believe in them. all work i have done myself, so i have not had a need to take it to a dealer, although if i were to give in, i would have to say i'd take it to either Nemet Motors on hillside ave or Koeppel nissan, and even though koeppel sucks, i would only take it there cause my friend is a service tech, so he'd watch over it. i think i have to take it in...i'm getting a rough idle, so i'll see what i do.

if you talk to anyone that knows me, i've calmed down from my insane driving, so i like to cruise it about 80% of the time. i avoid potholes and just take it easy. it is pretty hard, but i just like the look so much. i also dont' feel anything at all, since this is a true coilover system, the car feels so soft. i go over bumps and don't feel a thing. it's really something i can't describe. you'd have to drive in it and then be confused as to how good it feels. more than welcome to meet up and let you drive in it...NOT drive it

It's definitely nice and shiny. Do you know what kind of wax he used. If he didn't use Zaino that's what i'd apply next, you'll have dogs barking at that thing and birds flying into it.

it's NOT as shiny as it should be, simply because he did not use a carnabua wax....he used a synthetic wax. synthetic waxes offer more protection, which is something that is need for the winter. who cares how bling bling it is if the snow and sleet are gonna do a job on it.

in the spring time, we're switching over to a carnabua wax, at which point i'll see. his site mentions P21S, so i assume he favors that.

note: you can always ask him to use a carnabua wax instead of the synthetic, he recommended since i was looking into protecting the paint for the winter, so i went along with his recommendation. plus, i'll keep it clean with constant upkeeps with qwik detailer.

thanx boss....always pimp the lowrider. it's going lower next week.

- 20% windows, 15% rear windshield (reason being, when you look through one window, the backdrop is a dark window as well. looking through the rear windshield, the backdrop is the front, which is clear, so the rear always looks brighter. i made it a bit darker to somewhat match, and it did)

- never been harassed. whenever i get pulled over (only twice so far), i lower all the windows and i also open my sunroof. key thing to remember, more sunlight in the car makes the tints much lighter, so opening the sunroof alone makes it look MUCH lighter than 20%. but yeah, they are pretty dark, but still light enough to look legit and i love it.

- cooper cobras. i personally think they suck, but i could carless. these are 2k 16" wheels (yes i know, on my 2k2) that i have. i traded with someone for my 2k2 17" wheels. the way i saw it, i was getting aftermarkets anyway, so with the 16's, i have more rubber for the winter season. dont' really know how they'll handle during the winter. in fact, i may put the car in the garage, and just pimp the other ride (CRV) for the winter. it would def. keep mileage low and the car clean =)

2 ways to do it

1) i got a thin yellow adhesive sheet that went over the fogs. then with the OEM fogs alone, i was able to get a VERY strong yellowish color. this was great.

2) Narva Golds give prolly the strongest yellow hue. i got the 85w bulbs. but sadly, i just cracked my glass. AGAIN!!!

i tried narva golds AND the yellow sheet, but the 85w was too strong and it burned the sheet, so i had to take it off. but it was REAL yellow. now that the glass is cracked, i may order new sheets, and just leave the OEM bulbs in there. it was strong enough, but i got stingy. it will help for sure for the winter during the rough snowy days.
the only odd thing is that the yellow sheet didnt' really blend in with the car, so i'm still unsure of what to do. i need to put a sheet on cause i'm not buying another fog houseing. i'm on my 4th set.

Why not try the sheet with HIDs in the fogs?

I detailed cars all through college and IMHO, I like the Meguire's line of products. There's a little known secret that I discovered and I LOVE. Its called CLAY BAR. Meguires makes a clay bar kit and Clay Magic also makes a kit. Follow the directions after washing and drying your car. This step will make all the steps after it, easy as pie. The clay bar will remove all remaining surface impurities that normal washing can't remove. Tree sap, tar, bug remnants, bird dookey remnants, industrial fallout, paint overspray. This will leave your painted surface very smooth and the difference it makes to the touch is unbelievable. Trust me.

I did this for my wife's 4-runner 2 weeks ago. Its a 99 and it had never been waxed before. It looked clean before I did it but the paint felt VERY rough. Almoset like 600 grit sandpaper in some places on the hood. Clay took it right out.

I love detailing cars now. It makes it soooo much easier.

actually, this is what my detail consisted of

claybar
paint cleaner (scratch/swirl)
polish
synthetic wax

and he said that the claybar is what smoothed it all out. it's a great secret and a great product.
