OMG! my new tires saved my life....

A few days ago when it was raining I was driving alone in my max on the way to the shop to get an oil change. A white Cadillac is in front of me, we're both in the left lane doing 45mph. Then suddenly WITHOUT A ******* TURN SIGNAL he switches lanes to the right. At first I'm like WTF did he do that for. After his car moves so I can see ahead of me, there's this red Nissan pickup about 40ft or so ahead stopped with a left turn signal. I panic! so I slam on the brakes and it sends me skidding all the way to his back bumper. I stop LESS THAN A FOOT from his bumper. Holy **** it was soo close. This ******* in the Cadi has no ****in brain. WTF was i supposed to do in that situation? I don't have abs and I couldn't switch lanes to avoid the truck because there was a car right next to me.

And I just put my new 235-45r-17 Nankang sport ns-1 tires on 3 days before that happened. If I still had my bald 15s on, I woulda been in the hospital right now. Thankyou God.

Jeez, Paul!!! You'd better reach down and kiss those tires, bro! And while you're at it, send a few blessings out to your braking system AND your reaction time.

Reaction time and tires-yes. but brakes-hell no they suck. They never stop squeeking and they're not abs.

I also have 1996 without abs. I agree in that they totally suck. I could have avoided an accident a year ago if I had ABS. Positive on it cause I skidded for about 15 feet. Never again will I get a car without ABS...

I don't see why your blaming the guy in the Cadillac, was he supposed to signal? If I was in that situation I wouldnt bother to signal but rather get the *** out of the way.

Wheather or not he used his turn signal was irrelevant to the fact there was somebody in front of him. You would have reacted the same, signal or not. Keep a safe following distance and you should be able to stop under circumstances like that. At 45MPH you should have 4 car lengths in front of you, thats plenty of time to stop.

Good thing you didn't get hurt, now I can hurt you next time I see you.
IDIOT, keep a safe following distance in the rain.
I thought I took care of your brakes before, if not come by when i'm there and i'll fix the squeak again.

A similar thing happened to me. I'm driving in the right lane and this a$$hole cuts me off and goes in my lane. I switch into the left lane (so I wouldn't hit his rear) and there is a guy turning left up ahead. I slam on the brakes (ABS ) and I feel the brakes shaking and I stop like half a feet from his rear bumper.

That was a bad day for me since I almost got in 4 accidents

actually it's 4 seconds, you pick a spot on the road and count the seconds it takes you to get there after the car in front of you passes the spot...

Pump the brakes if you start skidding. That's all the ABS does for you.

Agreed but ABS still is much better. Maxima brakes in general suck. My girlfriend's civic is great compared to the max in terms of braking. You should check out the braking on my roommates IS No comparison there.
