i hate pepboys service

damn bastards. i had them mount and balance 4 tires, the guy tried to stiff me out of balancing one of them, and they overtightened the lugs on one of my rims. so here i come trying to change my oil and i snap one of the wheel studs and the other lug that was also over tightened was stripped. so now i have to go and replace 2 wheel studs on one rim.

damn bastard *** son of a *****

That's why I hate to take my car anywhere except the dealer. I'm dreading the day I need tires because I know some a**hole mechanic is going to mess up my rims by hammering a wheel weight on them or overitghtening my rims. If you want something done right you have to do it yourself.

Amen!

I sometimes wonder why I ever bother bringing my car to get serviced. They usually don't know as much and don't do as good a job as I could do myself. If I just had more time and a nice garage I would probably do 99% of my own repairs...

Dont ever take your stuff to Pep Boys! Your first warning sign should be hombres working on their civics in the parking lot...

NEVER AGAIN will I take my car to Pep Boys for any reason!

I went about a year ago to the one on Hollywood boulevard in LA have the belts replaced on my 4th gen. Took them all day to do it, and when I got in the car to drive away, there was a horrendous scraping sound eminating from the front passenger wheel well. I pulled over, and the plastic cover over the belts/oil filter area was bent backwards and was jammed up against the tire. I turned around, brought it back, and got the service manager to come out and look. "We didn't do that." WTF????? I just paid you 10 minutes ago, and you're telling me that you didn't to that??? I won that argument, got the car back up and the wheel off, they had of course lost the bolt and the keeper screws that hold the thing on, and were trying to force in a 1/2" head cap bolt where the 10mm should be. NOOO! I yelled at the idiot mechanic to stop what he was doing and get the correct bolt. "You don't tell me what to do, mang." Mr. service manager gets another little visit from me. They finally pull their heads out of their respective ***** long enough to put the freaking cover back on. Halfway home there is a different rattle coming from under the hood, I pull over, and the ram air horn by the battery isn't bolted to the radiator support anymore. Huh? Why would that be? My guess is the moron mechanic didn't realize that the belts were on the passenger side of the engine and started taking parts off the right side.

Pep Boys sucks. Their service department sucks, and though they have no idea what they're talking about, it doesn't prevent them from being ARROGANT AND CONDESCENDING AS HELL. Even their parts department sucks, and the actual parts they sell suck (I've had several instances of getting the wrong parts from the parts counter, and had a rebuilt alternator from Pep boys actually catch fire).

That's why I'm glad I moved out to the Valley where I've got Saul's Front End Parts, Tampa Auto Parts, PAW, and Home Mechanic's Warehouse and don't have to set foot in a chain store again.

This is why I buy all my tires off of tirerack, and take them to a small shop where or know the people or have my buddy who works for a caddy dealer mount and balance them for me.
