What to look for when buying 00-01 max?

i'm possibly looking into getting a 00-01 max....i know about the ignition coil, maf, and also brake noise....anything else to check before buying?

Also, check the front-end to see how bad the paint is chipped.

yep if you are looking at 01 i would look at 02s too just for the hid and some extra hp..

- transmission slip
- bizarre front end rubbing/other noises

The '02+ has some serious power when compared to a 2k 2k1. If you want a 2k 2k1 go for the 2k1 just for the fixes that were made.

I'd also try and squeeze into an 02 just for the power increase, and get the 6 speed! Bring it to a nissan mechanic (make sure that if you're buying from a nissan dealership [probably a bad idea because they'll screw you on price] you take the car to a different mechanic!). I paid $60 to have mine checked out and he did up a sheet on it and it really eased my mind with buying my car.

i would love to get a 2k2-2k3 maxima but for now 2k1-2k2 is fine....plus the deal i'm getting on a 00 Se auto it's hard to pass it up....i will post more info if i get the car

or you could just get an extended warranty...so the infamous transmission slip, MAF, and coil problems wouldn't only cost you a small deductable if you ever had problems with them.

also, you don't have to worry about the tranny slip TSB if it has less than 60k (covered under 60k mile tranny warranty).
