I know the V2's are quieter, but I've heard that people have been having all sorts of problems with the V2's. What sorts of problems? Were the V1's less prone to problems? Do you think I'd be able to specifically ask Stillen for either a V1 or V2 supercharger?

They will not give you a V1 with the kit even if you wanted one.

 

You can't ask Stillen for the V1 (believe me, I've tried before getting the V2). The V2 is still pretty loud imo and there are problems that come with it. Maybe you will be lucky and get a problem free SC. I know I sure didn't...

hehe..no it didn't blow up. The problems were annoying ones.. (leaks, idle problems, dealing with Stillen, and a handful of others). I haven't had too much luck with a problem free car yet. Heck, I still don't know what is wrong with the V2, but I do know that there is something wrong with it.

 

don't feel bad jane, i get the feeling neither does stillen.. other things to look for guys is fittament issues, we had to shave my mounting bracket to align the pullies.. otherwise the belt would just keep breaking.. don't you love how stillen tests their 3500$ product

 

I saw in DuPont Registry, Stillen is advertising their SMK for $130k, it's a 510hp CLK, in description it says backed by Stillen warranty, problem free.
It uses Vortech SC too, I wonder if those will have problems like Maxima and if Stillen will handle it differently

 

Phil, I don't feel bad, just annoyed that I spent over 4k on this thing and it gives me nothing but headaches..but you know who I will be calling if I have any problems hehe

 

and the pulley and the fuel management and a bad bearing in the blower.$hit I can go on for ever with problems car shuts off when I am coming to a stop Idle problems temperature problems. I think I must off had the worst v2 s/c That they made. And you know whats funny stillen still wouldn't admit that something was wrong with it they are going to Resell the Kit. Anyboby with a 97auto SE better be careful because they might get my old S/C. Phil I hope you are enjoying your S/C, $hit I thought this summer I would be road Killing GS4 and 540i now I have to watch out I don't get roadkill by civics.

yea.. sounds like u got a winner kit there jose.. i'd be damned if stillen trys to resell that kit after what u said happend.. hey who knows maybe you'll be roadkilling em come spring.. assuming stillen really does know how to fix these problems.. with mine stillen was playing stupid.. and even asked if there was a qualified mechanic working on it.. started to crack me and the mechanic up.. after shaving the bracket and replacing the belt and pulley its back to normal.. and of course those stillen logo's they included got tossed in the garbage..

 

Jose, Did Stillen just take the SC back? I wouldn't be surprised if Stillen did resell that kit. Stillen tries their hardest to blame the owner or the car, but not the kit itself. My car was working fine until the SC install and now things are leaking, and problems everywhere..blah! bad mistake..

Phil, they probably did some R&D on my car at my expense when they had the car for 2 weeks.. who knows...

Hey Phil, the other day when we were changing the oil, we found a filthy Stillen rag wedged between the bumper and you know when they had my car for 2 weeks, they used up a full tank of gas and didn't even refill it. I could go on and on, but I will stop here..

I agree with Phil about waiting to get the SC. If I had to do this all over again, I would have waited. I've put a lot of money just maintaining the SC and fixing the problems that Stillen can't seem to find. Not to mention I wasted a lot of time on the phone, traveling down to Costa Mesa.

the rest of the parts went back to stillen. But vortech said the blower had some damages on it. like minor scratches and dents now stillen wants to deduct that from the refund.
(Bastards) Thats how I found out that they are planing to ReSell the kit. Just a big headache so now I don't have no S/C and my money wasn't refunded yet. And autogear thats shop that order and install the kit for me is taking Stillen to court. I hope you are having better luck than me!!!

Like they say if you can't beat them then join them. Well thats it I am getting tired of the maxima, I might start looking for something Else. I hope somebody would just steal it or total it would just make things a little Easier.

After having Jane car for 2weeks you figure they would understand. But nope they still blame it on the mechanic, telling me don't worry it would eventually get fix. They must be crazy If they think I am going to wait around for them to get it right while they have my money.

I will tell the SC story when I get my BOV back from Stillen or when I get my $$ back from them. Until then, I don't want to say anything since they are holding my BOV hostage.

Stillen is deducting money from your refund? Are you serious? What are they saying is the problem with the kit that you got? There should be somewhere where we could complain about this. You won't believe how they treated me during the time I tried to get them to fix it. I called Vortech to complain to them and the guy who worked there was really nice but couldn't do anything except talk to one of the managers at Stillen (the Stillen manager was the one I was talking to already and I was getting nowhere with him). The only way I got things done was to complain to my sales rep..if it weren't for him, I would have gotten nowhere with Stillen.
You would figure they could give me an answer to what was wrong with my car sibehind it nce they had it for so long, but nope. They just blamed it on something else.
So what is Stillen doing now? Holding your money and SC hostage?

Got to say I appreciate the comments yall have on the SC. I was considering getting one next spring to round out the car. From what I read here I think that's not going to happen. I wonder if folks have had similiar (crappy) experiences with the JWT turbo?

group stillen s/c return? i sence one comming up.. muuhahaha oh someone asked bout the jwt turbo.. dunno what's been going on but ummm last i heard its not for public sale as of yet.. but not really sure.. since the eibach one was JWT turbo.. but i bet one thing.. turbo will sell more than the s/c since they've been developing this turbo for long time now

 

I was willing to wait and get another one. But its been 6months now I can't wait any more. Jane If you don't have a ypipe you better get it thats when you really feel the power.

Jose, I know what you mean. I've been having problems with this thing since May 19 (the day I got it back from Stillen)...and it hasn't stopped yet. It's one problem right after the other. Once I fix something, something else happens. I want the y-pipe, but I am going to wait on that. I want to fix the leak first and whatever else that feels like falling apart.

 

I just look at your car pic you got your rims also looks pretty good. You should have gone with 18" though, but the car is coming along real nice. Whats up with only tinting the back windows?

 

hehe..thanks..You sound like David. I didn't want the 18's. It took me forever to decide on the wheel, size, and tire. I didn't want to spend another 2 months deciding if I wanted 18's. But now I want the 18's hehe..I know David...I should have listened to you.

The rear windows are only tinted b/c it is illegal in Cali to tint the front ones.

Are you going to get the V2 later on, Jose? Or are you just going to leave your car as is?

 

why do you recommend 18"s over 17"s? and if 18"s, what width and tire size?

 

is if I buy the a 2k max then supercharge it. Thats it for my 97 I am going to leave it as is. It doesn't make any sense continuing to mod it when other can do simple bolt on and still kick my A$$. I got to get something thats a 5speed and comes with a turbo and all wheel drive wouldn't hurt either. I don't know I am undecided I might just keep the maxima and buy a sport car. I would hate to see all the money and effort I put into my maxima go to waste.

 

I know what you mean. When I think about all the money I have put into this car I could have bought another car...Oh well, my baby has made me happy. I am almost done modding him now.

 

but cosmetic wise the 18" looks much better than 17" on a maxima. The maxima has a big wheel well so 17" rims look small on it. And believe me the ride on 18" is just a little harsher than with 17". Like I said before if I was to buy new rims I would go straight up to 19". 17" rims look good on civics millenia and accords small cars. If you look at the maxima its a pretty big car. Just my opinon
