Can 98 se auto w/y-pipe beat 98 se 5sp stock?

Can 98 se auto w/y-pipe beat 98 se 5sp stock?

my neighboor is about to pick up a 98 se 5sp and was telling me we should race at a track to see whose faster...now the only major mod i have on my 98 se auto is y-pipe.....what would the out come be?

alot depends on the driver...there are guys who are lighting with the automagic...and guys who are complete slugs with the 5 speed...you'll just have to see...

I use to own a 97 Auto and a 99 Manual. In my case, even with a Y I don't think the Auto could have kept up. Could have been 80K as apposed to 30K miles too though.

Driving being equal, he will still have ya by a couple tenths. But driving is never equal so go race him and fing out.

I got my money on the 5speed. With normal conditions an average driver will run a low 15. I don't think an auto with y can do any better than a 15.6. But anything's possible. If he screws up the launch then you might have a chance

Autos with a y pipe should be in the 15.1 - 15.3 range. I hit 15.6 with a stock auto.

No YOUR auto with Ypipe will be in the low 15s. haha Every other auto with Ypipe will be high 15s.

i feel bad b/c i can't remember his name... a fellow org member ... sterling99sel i think... ran a 15.1 w/ a ypipe and a popcharger in an auto at rockingham... i was stock at the time and only beat him by a foot or two ... it will be close.

DNE had a track meet on 11/22. The 2 autos (96 & a 99) that ran had y-pipe/intake and only netted a 15.7 each.

My 5spd ran a 14.9 with intake and short shifter.

I have 2 dolla on the 5spd.

I'm an auto and ran 15.2 with an intake/y, thats what stock 5 speeds run right?

I too ran 15.140 in the 1/4 with an auto....with a ypipe and and intake.
