Over revving sound when cold starting???
Yeah I have it. Just as the RPM hit 2k there is kind of a metalic whir, similar to what you get when you try to start a car that's already started. I've heard it's the timing chain tensioner (in which case nissan says it's nothing to worry about), or could be the starter solenoid needing to be regreased. A fix for the latter is on www.motorvate.ca
I plan on possibly trying the starter fix this year but my grinding so far (although it's not that cold out yet) has not manifested itself so I'm not in a huge hurry.
BTW I use mobil 1 syn 5w-30. I bought the car at 37k last november (er, 13 months ago), so I can't say if it's always done this or not.

Cam Chain
Yup -- cam chain tensioner on cold-start.
Mine has it - has done it since new.
i don't like it - and I don't buy Nissan's BS response that it is NOTHING.
I figure this will be the next "Ignition Coil" situation, where it SHOULD be acknowledged by Nissan, but won't be.
To date, I know of nobody who's suffered any short or long-term ills as a result...it just seems to be annoying at this point.
Call me paranoid -- but an engine at this hi-level of engineering shouldn't make sounds like that on a cold start.
An annoyance, but I still love my car!
