Beware of Warranty Gold

For those who considered getting an extended warranty, stay away from this company. Here is a shortened version of events:
I purchased 2 contracts in 2002, one for each of my vehicles. In all fairness to WG, getting repairs taken care of was a breeze, and all I had to do is fork over the $50 deductible.
In late October I began hearing that Warranty Gold was refusing to cover new repair claims and policy holders were being told to pay the service department, then file a claim with warranty company for re-imbursement. Few weeks later I received an email letting me know that the underwriter (National Warranty) has filed for bankruptcy. Apparently Warranty Gold stopped doing business with National Warranty some time in June, but the money from contracts prior to that date were still held by National Warranty, and the repair claims for any customers who purchased their contracts before June 7 should go to National Warranty. Essentially Warranty Gold has blamed this mess on National Warranty, yet they continued sending emails to their customers claiming that they are doing everything they can to recover the money from National Warranty. Well, Warranty Gold filed for bankruptcy shortly thereafter, the order entered by the judge nullified all contracts purchased before June 7th, leaving thousands of people out to dry. To make matters worse, they continued charging the credit cards of customers who purchased the contracts prior to June 7th. Of thousands disputed charges since WG was trying to charge their cards for voided contracts. Warranty Gold had the ba11s to file a complaint against their payment processing company for withholding funds that are in dispute.
To make the long story short, I'm out $2300 (cost of 2 policies) I'm 99% certain I wont see but few dollars of what I lost, if anything at all. Warranty Gold remains in business selling contracts to unsuspecting consumers.

Check out www.warrantygoldsux.com before you consider getting a warranty from these guys.
