Removing the Cat (?)

Is there any down side for removing the main cat-converter ?

I have two pre-cats and one main cat, I will get a y-pipe, that's will cancel the two pre cats,
and I want to get a straight pipe to replace the main cat.

Is this a good idea ?

Thanks,

A side effect of the cat is sound dampening. Your car will probably become noticeably louder without the main cat.
Your call will also fail any inspection and be subject to fines in most states. Cat is a federal requirement.

they do emmissions inspection every three years, I think I will be fine with that,
I will still have the stock Cat at home, to put it back for the inspection,

I think I will get the Y-Pipe first, then I will decide about the main cat.

I still don't have any mods, if you were talking about the list in my page, they are future upgrades

and I still didn't get your point about middle east cars

Thanks,

I put on just a straight pipe and there were no noticable noise gains
