Maxima o2 sensors

when i do my exhaust i want to replace the sensors......i've heard that it's not really important to change the rear sensor.... more importantly the front two.....how true is this? also what is the best price and place to find the front two sensors? thanks

Hello:

I recently replaced both front O2 Sensors. In about two weeks, The CEL came on and indicated the rear O2 sensor was not reacting fast enough. I replaced the rear one and all is ok. I only wanted to make you aware that the new front sensors will "switch" faster than the rear causing the CEL. Not absolute, but likely.

Purchased my Bosch replacements at Advanced auto for approx. $78.

78*3= $234 Not exactly cheap.

Hope this helps

Mike

The main function of the rear sensor is to monitor the proper functioning of the cat. The front ones actually monitor the exhaust AND tell the ECU to adjust the air fuel mixture in order to optimise combustion if needed.
