Need Additional IACV Info.

The engine in my max has been revving to almost 2000 RPM when cold starting. And, the idle RPM varies between 600 and 800 RPM after warming up. I cleaned the T-body but that did not help so it's time to clean the IACV.

I bought a Chilton's book hoping to get some info and pictures, but it had very little useful info. So, does anyone have pictures they could post/e-mail? Also, does the IACV have a gasket? Anything I need to be aware of? Any help/tips would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your support.

I cleaned the throttle body and IACV a couple of days ago. The car starts much better now and revs at 1500 cold. The IACV is held in by two screws, one on either side. Remove the 3 electrical connectors for access, take out the two screws and the valve will come off. There is no gasket. Haynes warns you not to soak it in solvent so I cleaned it with a rag as much as possible and then used some throttle boby cleaner on the valve tip. I also cleaned the hole in the throttle body that the valve fits into.

Hope this helps.

Thanks! Just the kind of info. I was hoping for. In fact, I think I'll go out to the garage right now and have at it.

Thanks again.
