Rocker wear?

I once had an Eagle Talon and it had a ticking sound much like my max makes now (though a little louder), and it ended up being a rocker arm that broke. If I take off the valve cover, will I be able to tell if a rocker arm is going bad? The ticking doesnt ever really go away and sounds like its too loud to be VTC's. The sound comes from the middle of the valve cover it sounds like. Any thoughts? I don't know what the internals of my engine are like, condition-wise ( it runs great and I've had no problem with the engine), so the ticking kinda worries me.

Thanks for any imput and thoughts.

Caleb

to answer the question, you'll be able to see them, but I doubt one of them is broken.

Does it sound like a knocking, almost like something is tapping the top of the valve cover?

yeah I guess that's a good way to describe it. it SEEMS to be a good 6-8 inches away from the VTCs, that's why I thought it wasn't them, but who knows...it does have 142k.

Its your VTC's. Clicking is the noise the injectors make, the VTC's knock IMHO .

Easiest test: ground them
