Whats the most inexpensive way turbo?
Whats the most inexpensive way turbo and where is the best place or website to get one for. Or is it cheaper to get everything seperate. Only thing about that is I dont know everything I need and how I would go about getting the piping.
if you dont know all the components of a turbo system then you will have to buy a "KIT" and they start around 4500$
if you reseach for a few months and understand 100% how to biult a turbo kit and install it on your car you could buy all the pieces and save some money and you could also buy a welder and make all the piping and save alot more money but thats alot of time invested in learning the ins and outs of turbos and the way they work to make your car go crazy fast

This is going to sound really harsh, but if you're asking this question, you don't even need to consider a turbo set up of any kind. You havent' done enough research on this topic and will have many, many headaches down the road unless you know what you're getting into.
And inexpensive and turbo don't go in the same sentence unless it's "I tried to get an inexpensive turbo setup and my car blew up"

Listen! When it comes to turbo charging a maxima be prepared to spend money... You must understand, the turbo concept for our cars is at a beta stage.. But there are kits available for around $4500. And these kits have the bear essentials. However, you have 3 options to choose from; PFI, Custommaxima, and HAL . Just be prepared to speand more on labor and other misc. parts... I spent about $6500 on my setup... And I still have more things to add on top of what I got...
Since your new to the force-induction segment. I recommend you saving your money and gettng the Stillen V2 Superchager Kit... I beleive it's about $3800. And it is pretty much complete... But know this, you will spen about $1200 more on labor intensive installation. Still it's a cheaper alternitive.
Bottom line there is no cheap alternative to turbo setups. Know the motto, "You Must Pay, To Play"... You try to take short cuts, you'll wind up blowing your motor...

if you more or less know what you're doing and can handle shopping forever until you find the best deal you can make it cheaper. i did my third gen for under 2000 dollars. i did a lot of the work on it myself and got tons of deals on nearly everything. so far its been running great and i've had little problems. i already went on a 600+ mile trip with no trouble at all (except for the stupid heater core. i always have trouble with that pos)
the cheapest turbo is one of those electric one...does that satisfy your question? ebay...baby. put stickers on it and you will add more ponies...
totally agree with shadow.....cheap and a real turbo don't go together....its like an oxymoron

Honda turbos aren't cheap at all if you want anything decent. Hell, I blew $4K on my girlfriend's Integra custom turbo setup and that was with hookups on labor/tuning.
And a lot of the nice setups are $4K + kits. Yeah, you can buy kits for $2700 or so, but most people who buy them end up modifying them and spending more than $4K anyways.
I mean, if you really think about it, nothing is cheaper to do for a Honda. Their manifolds are $300-$1500, and you can build a Maxima feedpipe for less than that. Turbos are the same of course, wastegates are the same, BOV's, and so on are all the same. Still need fuel pumps, FMU's, standalones, all that. And Hondas require stuff to fool the MAP sensors, their injectors are tiny, I could go on all day. I've had just as much trouble with my girlfriend's setup as I've had with mine, and the monetary amount spent is almost the same for both cars which have comparable setups (my turbo is much bigger than hers obviously).
The only advantage is that you can set up junkyard setups for under $1K, due to easier access to the engine and compatibility of parts.

Show car, didn't want to go budget anywhere (look for it in March or April's issue of Honda Tuning). And you can build a good turbo using new parts for $2K? No junkyard or used parts.
Even on the low end, you're looking at
$250 manifold
$450 turbo
$300 IC
$175 WG
$150 BOV
$100 FMU
$100 fuel pump
And then with the downpipe, IC piping, and flanges that bumps it to over $2K already. And I wouldn't call that a "good" turbo setup. I mean, I know of plenty of budget turbo hondas, but none of them have really good setups and the owners are the first to admit this.

That does not include tuning.
