my coworker friend has been ragging on me about my maxima. she thinks it's absolutely silly for a "family sedan" to be a performance vehicle and that even her new beetle turbo will outrun me. so one night we're coming home from going out. i told her she'd get smoked by my maxima since she was insistingly ragging about how her beetle turbo will beat my max. so we're going down the empty highway, i slow slightly to let her even. she gets the sense to race and she downshifts and takes off. she hears my downshift and we're off. within seconds i catch up to her at the top of third gear. i shift to 4th and by this time i'm lightly easing off and on to show that i can pass at will. my friend is in the passenger seat unimpressed at the result lol. so after taking a 4 car length lead i gently slow to normal cruise and she passes and merges. a little while later she moves over a lane and slows. i'm thinking to myself "you want more?" lol the moment i gently cruise by she guns it. i downshift and the same result happens as before only this time she tries harder (almost top speed). i double the length and slow to a cruise. after one easy bend she does the same thing again and i show her my taillights before we split onto our separate ways. although i sorta knew she would lose i didn't think she'd have that much pull. the beetle has a nice top end pull for the 1.8t. many of you don't know me as a big highway racer which i'm not, so rag on me for the story, but i had to vent this one. it's been a while since i've been excited about a run because recently my max is normal transportation. my S13 is supposed to be the fun machine. =P gosh the top gear intake howl and exhaust note close to redline are exhillarating! back to normal driving for me <sigh>

 

perhaps i'll tell her to add a chip and then we'll rematch lol. the results might be different then. i'll be kind and not mention anything about what happened the other day hehe.

ibtl though, it's not the weekend yet!

 

ibtl....just boost her turbo to about 9.5psi and she'll smoke you . . .
