Car wont start... starter not starting, its new.... ideas?

Ok, I'm helping a friend of my sister out with her car, its a 92 SE auto with an engine from a 93 in it.

I just replaced the starter, bolted it all up, put everything back on, went and had them start the car and nothing. There was a small buzzing noise, but it was intermitent, it was not coming from the starter or the starter solenoid, it sounded like it was coming from the firewall. It would only happen when they held down the key in the start position.

Basically I've got it down to 2 things:
1. The key switch, when it goes to start, because the solenoid isnt even getting the signal
2. The aftermarket alarm. Maybe there is something with that? I dont know.

I can tell you that the alarm is annoying as hell, you go to plug in the battery and chirp chirp, then the alarm goes off. oh man are they lucky I didn't cut that speaker off, lol. I was trying to see if the buzzing noise was coming from the alarm speaker, but then it stopped buzzing again.

This is ****ing me off, and she would like to drive her car again, lol (she doesn't really need it since she cant drive to school, and when she goes to work she can just borrow one of her parents cars). Tommarrow it looks like I might be taking a part the whole key assembly bit to see if corrosion or something has made it stop working. If that doesnt look like it was the problem or didnt help, that alarm might be getting unhooked

try neutral, try park. try a jump start. Are you sure the battery is good?

yes, battery is 100% good, I can gap the terminals on the battery and the starter will run.

I'm 99.9% sure its the signal wire related.

actually it sounds like the starter relay.
If it is the alarm, have fun.

Something to do with the alarm.

Might be one of the park/neutral safety switch inhibitors.

well if its the alarm it might jsut be a bad relay on the starter kill. if that the case, track down the starter wire on the main ignition harness and disconnect the relay for the starter kill and reattach the starter wire. good luck

About that buzzing noise. I believe I read in FSM or somewhere else that it's related to the fuel pump pre-pumping a fuel i.e. increasing a fuel pressure before car would start. I have the same noise when turn the key to ignition position after a while.
