0201 & Multiple Misfires
0201 & Multiple Misfires
Hello all, hoping you can help me track down the root cause of my CEL lights. Been having a problem with cyl 1 misfire (0608) of late. Swapped the plugs/coil but nothing helped so I chalked it up to a short somewhere in the system (which I've had before, btw).
Today the Max gets even more sick and I pull a 0201 (Ignition Signal Circuit) and 0701 (Multiple Misfire) but it did not discriminate about which 2 cylinders. Now I think I have 2 problems - a bad coil pack AND a short somewhere in the system. Unfortunately, I can't tell which pack is bad since it only tells me that multiple cylinders misfired.
I've gone through Mr. Martin's collection of CEL codes posted in this forum, and found the following for 0201:
- Harness or connectors (the ignition primary circuit is open or shorted.)
I had it in the dealer about 2 years ago with similar problems (misfire on cylinder 1), and they said they fixed a short in the wiring harness next to the firewall. I've looked for this but can't seem to find where they might be talking about.
I don't really feel like getting screwed over by Mr. Dealer once again just for them to patch a short. Anyone have advice for tracking down where this may be so I can get to the bottom of this?
