I didn't think the Maxima handling was bad, but after reading these forums for a while, I ordered one today, just to see how much better it can get
Hopefully it will be here soon.

FSTB Install

I've had my Max for 3 years and just installed the FSTB from Street Beats yesterday. I'm kicking myself as to why I haven't purchased one sooner. It feels like a different car. You'll be glad you got it, especially for the price.

Not Long.....

If they have them in stock. Mine was shipped UPS ground from Phoenix, so probably just a couple days. Have fun.

I just received and installed my FSTB [Vibrant Performance] from streetbeats 2 days ago. They were back ordered so it took about 3 weeks to arrive. It keeps snowing so I haven't been able to really try it out but I can already feel a difference. I just installed the RSB last night, and put new tires on 3 weeks ago. I can't wait for the roads to dry up!

I would recommend using a torque wrench to install it. The strut tower bolts should be torqued to 35 lbs.

How much did you pay for it.
I want to get one, but there are so many different prices I am hearing.

Thanx

now if you buy a rear sway bar it will make you an even bigger difference. can be purchased from http://www.shox.com for about $110 + shipping.

what happens if u don't use a torque wrench to install ur FSTB? Just good ol fashioned muscle power, till it don't twist no more.

Then you have over-tightened

Do NOT use your ol' fashioned muscle power. 99 out of 100 times, you will over-tighten the nuts. 35 lbs is not much at all...

I tightened the bolts on my strut bar a little less than they were before the brackets were on.... i didnt really tighten the hell out of them, just made sure they were snug.. should i be fine?

So what's the harm in over tightening? Not enough flex? Potential of stripping the bolts? Just curious.

I literally ripped the bolt out one time... It wasn't too expensive to fix, but it was definitely a hassel... Back when I was a novice at installing mods, my friend and I (2 x 180lbs) pushed/pulled the nut until it came loose.

Nope, definitely don't want to do that again.....

You can also rip the bolt/nut off if it's over-torqued through a hard corner while your driving. So just because you didn't screw it up on installation doesn't necessarily mean you're ok.

I live in Silicon Valley as well. I ordered my FSTB from streetbeat a while back and it took about a week to receive it. The next thing you will probably want is the RSB. I just installed one and the difference is phenomenal.

Thanks for the info on the over torquing guys. I always heard that I shouldn't do it but never knew exactly why. I feel more informed. he heh.

You should do it, just be careful with the specs...

I encourage you 100% to do everything yourself because you will love your car MORE after you start working on it yourself. I know I did!

Just make sure you do the necessary research before heading into it. Feel free to ask questions because that's why we are ALL here! hehehe...
