Speedometer stopped working overnight

My speedo was working fine last night, but today it doesn't work. Odometer is stopped too. Even though this situation has bright sides (mileage is not adding up and I got great excuse in case I caught for speeding ) I still plan to fix it.

Where should I look first? Replace vehicle speed sensor? How expensive are these things?

you may be able to reach your arm up under the dash and acually check to see if the cable is securly fastened. If you have big arms get an 11 year old to do it.

hate to break it to u, but our maximas do NOT have a speedometer cable. i would check the fuses, connections on the back of the gauge cluster, and the speed sensor. all of which are easy to do

speed sensor is $27 or so...not sure if that would affect your rpm though...it could be your gauges meaning your speedo head malfunctioned or died. if it's that, get one from a junkyard or on here or ebay, reset your ecu when installing and it should work. goodluck

Sorry that's what I meant the connectors. I've removed my cluster before, I said cable for a lack of the right term.
