Insurance Covering car with a Turbo?
Insurance Covering car with a Turbo?
I am on State Farm insurance and will be moving to Jacksonville, Florida. How does it work with the insurance covering your car with a turbo charger in it. I live in Baltimore, Maryland right now and I was told that you have to get it installed, the insurance company takes pictures of your engine and then decide wether or not they will let you keep it on their. Now it doesn't make sense because turbos and superchargers start from $3000 on up and it not something as easy as just saying no you ant have it take it back off, and this was told to me by my insurance company. What was stupid was they didnt even know what I was talking about when I said a turbo or super charger. Somebody please help me out so I know I will be covered with it on ther.
I would just call the insurance agency, everyone is different. Ask them about it and do they cover mods to the car. Some say it is included, and some you have to get a policy added based on the price of the mods. Just take pictures, it does not matter who installs it. Calling is your best bet and stay on the line till someone gives you a deffinant answer and then ask to see it on paper. It does not mean anything unless it is on paper.
