Warpspeed Aluminized Y pipe.....bees in a can??

Does this Y pipe have a bees in a can sound??? I want to get in on the GD going on, but I dont want that sound. I will be keeping exhaust stock for now, this summer going with a resonated 2.5" B and then a 2k muffler I believe, or something quite.

Also, on my 99.5 max, how much performance will I gain?? Ive heard not quite as much, and also Im Fed spec. Just looking for some input, cause Im not in a hurry, I was leaning at Budget until I saw the GD going on. Thanks!

I had the bees in the can for like 3 days but then it was gone and never heard it since. I put mine on a 97 and there were significant gains in hp.

I have the same y-pipe. No bees in the can sound. It does have a nice little purr to it, even with the stock muffler. I'm not sure about the hp gains, because I dynoed my car, and I'm missing quite a few ponies (it's probably my car). Other than that, I'd highly recommend it.

there is a slight drone in cabin with the stock muffler....you can feel the power in your feet on the floorboards....you car kinda has a purr and bass like rumble in the floorboards...kinda where the y pipe will be.....but take it from me, I ordered from Warpspeed....and I saw huge, huge HP gains, awesome quality if you look at the mandrel bends and the welds! in either case, get it, you won't regret it!!! perfect fit too! (unlike some other y pipes out there), no bees in can at all!

It's because you have a 99 and one of the pre-cats is still there.

i have a 96 maxima and just put a warpspeed y-pipe and hi flo cat. i left the stock muffler on and i absolutely love the sound. its quiet at low rpms but when you open her up it roars, nice sleeper quality. the biggest sound difference i noticed was when i installed the frankencar hybrid air intake it added significant power and the sound is awesome i am 100% satisfied with these mods. i live in houston so with a cai i was afraid of sucking up water so i dont know if cai's are any better but i couldnt be happier with my intake.

There was only 1 precat...and that was on the stock y-pipe.

maximum810, I have heard from other people before that the 99's have another pre cat that you have to eliminate before you get significant gains with the y-pipe? Is this true? I mean, I was under the impression that when you take off the stock y-pipe, you remove all the pre cats.

I have the WSP y-pipe with the lined flex section and I get a slight hiss from the pipe under WOT above 5000rpms. Keep in mind my VQ moves a bit more air than stock above 5000rpms because of my MEVI/JWT ECU so the hiss might be related to that. The hiss sounds much like a turbo. My WSP Y is significantly quieter than my old Stillen Y-pipe. You shouldn't feel any extra vibrations with the Y-pipe. If you do, something from the pipe is rubbing the chassis. Noise wise overall, someone who is not a Maxima owner wouldn't know the difference in the sound. It's only slightly louder at WOT.

As far as I know, my 99 only had one...which was on the y-pipe. I believe the cali specs were the ones that also had another precat that's somewhere on the header...I could be wrong, but the only one I've seen on my car was on the y-pipe. I dynoed my car with MrEous..and his was making 13more hp than my car, and all he had was a test pipe and intake and I had a drop-in filter and y-pipe. Our cars are both 99's.
