Y-PIPE Questions
Y-PIPE Questions
How much difference will a Y-Pipe make in 0-60 time, 1/4 mi., 1/8 mi?? How noticible is the difference between the warpspeed Y-PIPE in the GD section and the Budget Y-PIPE? Which one will make the most difference for me since I am auto, will there be a difference?

i cant give you the numbers, but you WILL feel the difference aftre you install the Y-pipe. as far as the differences between the manufacturers, i believe they are very minor (peope usually argue which one uses better flex section), and there shouldnt be any difference in power gains. i myself have the Budget Y-pipe.

There's no real difference in Y-pipes I'd just get whichever is cheapest.
The difference is that the Warpspeed GD Y-pipe is aluminized steel where the budget is stainless steel. The aluminized will last for a long time and the stainless will last almost forever do to it being less likely to rust. I am just not wanting to wait forever for a Y-pipe otherwise I would get in on the group deal.
MaximaMoJo, How you figure it is going to be forever that you are going to have to wait if you do the Warpspeed Group Deal? I mean, he has already sent out more than like 20 of them, and the deadline for the group deal is not even here yet. I would say that is pretty fast. I paypaled him some money Friday, and it should be here tomorrow. If you are wanting one, He is taking orders on when he gets the money...therefore, if you paypal him, he will get yours before any checks and stuff. You ought to do it. Hard to beat.
**Plus, I don't think all Budget's pipes are SS. Just some. They sell Aluminized steel pipes too.

Budget makes only Stainless Steel pipes and have for almost 2 years now. The aluminized stuff don't stand up to Cdn winters.
Quote from Cdn Driver:
Many performance exhaust systems, such as those from Borla, are made of aircraft quality T-304 steel. It's a higher quality than the stainless systems that come standard on some cars, and vastly superior to lower grade "mild" steel systems. Economy performance systems are often made of "aluminized" steel. Borla, by the way, claims a performance increase of between five and 15 per cent.

I don't know of anyone who has had one for 4 years that lives in a harsh environment.
SS also does not transfer heat as fast and aluminized steel so the gases stay hotter and exit faster. The last thing you want is for the gases to cool down as it will reduce their speed, which is why racers wrap their headers.
The other option is to get it ceramic coated which is even better because it does both inside and outside of the pipe to not only reduce heat transfer but friction as well.
Check out the hotshot headers they only sell them ceramic coated. headershttp://www.hotshot.com/products_headers.htm
My Son runs this shop and they sell most of their manifolds bare but offer the option of ceramic coating.

You can ceramic coat just about anything and many manufactures will just use mild steel to reduce costs. This works well as long as it doesn't wear off or is scratched because then corrosion will begin.
The best scenario is to ceramic coat stainless steel.
