Just finished a repair...need a little help (brakes)

Finished replacing my front drivers side wheel Hub along with new bearings tonight. That was a PITA, but that is a whole other story.

Of course I had to remove the capiler, pads and rotor. My bearing problem seems to be fixed but now it sounds like my pads are scraping against the rotor. The car brakes fine but does not sound too good. When removing the capliper I did not release the piston or disconnect the brake fluid line....so I thought that I could just put the pads back on and slap the caliper on with out having to do any adjusting. This was the first time I did any work on my brakes so I am not that familiar with them....but everything looks OK. What can I do?

No, just had to remove them to take off the steering knuckle.

Yep. The caliper was kinda hard to get over the pads...maybe I knocked one of them out of place a bit?? I was told that even though I did not mess with the piston that it can come out slightly if it is removed from the torque member for a while. I had mine off for a week.

spring clips are not necessary, I never put mine on and my car brakes fine. All of the nissan technicians at my work told me that they are not necessary too.

Well the V clips are the only things that pull the pads away from the rotors after using the brakes. I would say they are important.

first they don't pull them away evenly, second of all you don't see many other cars that have it. Back rotors don't have it. Don't worry about the pads being pulled away, as long as they are not pressured against the rotor they are not really touching it.
