Planning on doing a 5spd conversion on my 98 automatic. If i were to use a 96 I30 as a donor car for basically everything, would i run into any major problems? Will the 96 ecu in the 98 throw codes? If i does throw codes would they be?


Another question: Would the 98 tranny,ecu, etc work in the 96 without any major problems?

You will get O2 sensor errors I know because I'm dealing with them now I have the opposite problem I did a 5speed conversion on my 96 and the donor car was a 98. I bought the tranny and ecu installed it and now I'm getting 02 sensor errors from both sensors. I still have the ecu and I'm interested in buying an ecu from a 96 5speed maxima so maybe we can trade if you do get it

Nope I already tried that. You will get 10/03 park/neutral sensor error if you try to use auto ecu after a 5 speed conversion
