Fuel Guage And 02 Sensor

this could be the dumbest question ever posted but last week my check engine light went on and i ran the self diagnostics and the code for my rear heated 02 sensor came on....i have replaced various sensors in my maxima over the years and have come to conclude that i have a bad wiring harness because half the time when i reset the light without fixing the sensor it doesnt come back on....but anyway today i was driving home and my gas guage just suddenly dropped all the way down...about an inch past E...i think it might have happened when i hit a bump or something...could these two be related and if not has anyone had problems with their gas guage...solutions?

thanks

as far as both:

1. Yeah, the same ish happened with my car. I got a MIL for ALL O2 sensors ( my dumbazz was changing fuses, pulled the O2 sensor fuse and put it back in the wrong spot). After i fixed the problem, the light stayed on for a while, then went off by itself. Then, it would come on for a week, then stay off for a month. It did this all winter. Now, i have a bad O2 sensor ( i know for a fact, i ran OBDII on it), and if i reset the MIL, it'll stay off for a day then come back on.

2. as far as the fuel gauge: I get amazing gas mileage for the first 1/2 of my tank. Then, just under 1/2 to about a 1/4 i'll get maybe 50 miles. Then i get good mileage till the end. I don't know why it does this. I just know not to freak when it drops like that, because it always happens.
