Expected Repair Cost? *Pic Inside*

How much would I be expecting to pay to get this fixed up? It looks like I will need to have the bumper repainted and whatever it will cost to cover up the dent. I have never taken my car to a body shop before. Thanks.

that's not too bad. depends on where you go, of course. i'd say you're looking at between 200-300 like lxl_MaximA_lxl said...

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think it'll cost a lot more than $300.

I used to work as an adjuster for AAA auto insurance, and although that looks cheap to fix, the quarter panel is gonna cost you a bit, depending on how well you want it to be fixed. Under normal circumstances they gotta replace the bumper, and then replace part of the quarter panel. The bumper should be pretty cheap. As for the quarterpanel, there's a bit of labor there and there's almost no way of repairing that dent by knocking it back into place -- it just won't look smooth anymore. The ghetto way of fixing it would be to knock it back into place and bondo-ing the little imperfections and then painting over it again. If you don't want to go the ghetto route, it is going to cost at least a grand. If you know any bodyshop guys, now would be a good time to ask around and get some prices.

what the hell are you smoking...just use a rubber mallet and get under your car and knock it back out yourself...i dont see any paint damage and its a pretty wide shallow dent. Nothing has been ripped or cut...it will come right out.

Yeah that's the ghetto way to do it, and it won't look the same as before. Ever crush an aluminum can then try to push it back out? There's always gonna be that little small crease there. It isn't going to pop right out into its original shape like it was made of plastic.

But if thats what you can afford, it'll be alright since it is a small dent and you probably won't notice it unless you get close up to it.

Here is what you need to do:

1. go and get about 3 estimates from different places...they are free. Take the average of the three and that is a pretty good idea of what it would cost fairly...just if you are wanting to know.
2. Is insurance covering this, or are you having to do it yourself? If the insurance is covering it, you need to just have them come out and look at it and then they can cut you a check for it. They will be pretty right on...(when I had this done about a month ago, they were within $100 of the ones I got from independent body shops). With them cutting the check to you (you tell them ins that you don't know where you want to take it), you can get the parts cheaper and do some of the stuff by yourself. The bumper assembly is nothing all that complex...and if it is just the bumper cover that is messed up(usually no need to replace the absorber, even if it is broken....it is just styrofome...just tape it back and it will be fine), you can get one from www.rockauto.com for like $54. That is cheap!!! It is already primed and then you just have to have it painted. Get it painted off the car.
3. That dent in your panel looks creased. I am with Maxima GTR, I think it will cost a lot more than $300 to do right. I mean, the paintwork for all of this will cost that alone...if you don't spray paint it yourself. ha ha. Usually when paint is creased, you have to start all over. He is right, you will not be able to get it back smooth by just popping it back out.

Hope any of this helps....
