95% of the people on the org will recommend staying with NGKs, whether it be copper or platinum thats y our decision, power is the same, but longevity is 60k on the plats and 30k on the coppers, price is $9 at LEAST for the platinums and $1.50 a piece for the coppers

Yeah stick w/ coppers, I dont mind changing them at 30K instead of 60.. Not like its a hard task anyways... Unless of course, you got cash to spare

Say no to bosch, say no to anything non-NGK. Dont let them dorks at the store try to bully you into buying some other plugs, they tend to do that.

why bother, why not just go with the platinums if your ognna shell out $12, someone tried NGK iridium's once, same material, dont know how much different the design is but they wore out prematurely

Copper is actually a better conductor than Platinum. The Platinums might last longer, but technically, you will not get a better response out of them over the Copper ones. I have heard great recommendations for the NGK, whatever you get though. I think performance outdoes longevity.

Coppers (1 step colder) for me. Im running n2o so i cant run plats, but i would stick with coppers either way. Like brudaddy said, its a better conductor over plats. And its waaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper.

If I am stock, 99maxima5spd, should I mess with whether or not a plug is hotter or colder, or just go with NGK coppers and be done with it?

Well, I already know that coppers conduct better. I was just wanting to know more about the hotter or colder thing. I don't know about that. Can you adjust it, or do you just buy different plugs, or what?

If your all stock, just buy regular coppers, no need to mess with going hotter (produces a hotter spark, helps you none) or colder (produces a colder spark, much safer for running nitrous, and actually slows you up all-motor ). I believe the regular coppers are a 7 so just stick with those...

And no, you cant actually adjust the hotness or coldness of the plug by doing anything to it...if im understanding you correctly. You must buy an actual hotter/colder plug...

stock heat range is 5, that goes for coppers or platniums. BKR5E-11 is the copper plug for stock heat range, the 4th character in this plug is the heat range.

hey bruce, i just put in new NGK coppers. they have the same performance as the platinums, but they only lat 30,000 miles instead of the plats 60,000. The plats were at napa was 12.96 while the coppers were 2.59 i think. way cheaper and worht it compared to the plats.

while you are at make sure you have a long *** socket wrench extender, or buy one. it will make things much easier.

I cannot get the coppers at my local NAPA. The best plugs they recommended were the GP platinums (see ngk website). According to a representative at NGK that I spoke to, these would be better than the coppers. They are around 2.50 apiece. I'll give em a try and let everyone know if they are good. They cannot be worse than the bosch plat's in my car now.

For NGK Coppers, is there a difference between the standard ones and the V-Powers?

Thank you very much to everyone. I have been having these slight hesitations in my acceleration and my plugs haven't been changed in a minute. NGK it is!!

Thanks for the tip, ManualMaxima. I will have to watch out for that. I usually go over to my dad's house to work on the ole max. He has like every Craftsman tool there is. I think he has a socket or whatever I need, even a long one.

I don't know much about the v power ones. I would like to be enlightened for next time, maybe.

Eric,

Thanks for the useful tips. I appreciate them. I will just stick with whatever is stock since I don't have any nitrous.
