There was a 6th gen behind me and his xenons were glaring in my rearview. Got me curious whether they needed to be aimed or that's just the way they build them. I must say the car's lamps look funky nonetheless. I don't remember any 5th gen factory xenons glaring like that.

Turning to the back of the car, it would have been a nice touch had they have put a LED highmount, but I guess the one they used costs less. But heck, even the Hyundai Sonata has a nice LED strip inside the rear window.

 

I know the 5th gen definetely dont self level, I dont believe the 6th gen does either. The only ones Ive seen them on is the Murano.

Yea I saw that on my friends Evo 8. Pretty nice, but it goes really slow, so you cant exactly use them as highs to communicate with people, but adjusting them from city to rural traffic is ideal.

 

That's HOT.. it sure beats opening our hood with a wrench, trying to re-aim our headlights.

 

That's not what he's talking about. All european cars with projectors are now required to have self leveling headlights - that is, they automatically re-aim on the verticle axis depending on the orientation of the car. There is no driver involvement. If you watch an Audi A4 with projectors when they turn on, they go through a self-level check. It's cool, it looks like the car is nodding when it turns on

A feature being bandied about now in a lot of beemers and such is the horizontal axis aiming. That is, rather than the projectors always pointing straight, their orientation is tied to the position of the steering wheels, so if you are turning left, they are pointed more towards the left. Etc. It's pretty nifty. I think if you search around BMW's website, you can find some flash animations of it in action.

if i recall the 1948? TUCKER car would auto turn the beams to the side your turning, some BMW cars have that feature today but my 2002 just has regular HID lights.

 

Did all the headlamps turn on the Tucker or just the center one?

 

just the center,(when you turned the light would help you see around corners and then go back to straight after the turn) great idea, its a shame its not a standard feature for today's car unless you spend over 60K for a BMW.
