2k max performance difference

the other day my buddy with 2k max (or 2001, 5-speed, stock) drove my 98 max (y-pipe, 5-speed) and said that his pulls much better. do they really pull better? or is there something wrong with my car? i was running kinda even with GS-R also.

I mean what could be wrong here: ECU gives no codes, car is well maintained, just got good tires, has only 67K miles. could it be like a cloged cat. or maybe dirty injectors or something?

and what is the difference in wieght between SE+GLE package and GXE (maybe this is the reason)

a lotta factors. what's his rim size compared to yours? Does he just say taht cuz he's biased? Drive his car and see if it actually does pull harder. I believe the 5th gens are a lil heavier than 4th gens. around 100-200 lbs. You also have a ypipe which he doesn't. Just race him.

He's got the 5th gen rims, what are they 17's, i got 16's. and he's not into cars or into performance, he just ended up with his maxima. btw i don't even think he has it now, he was supposed to trade it in for an accord coupe this week.

it's just a comment that he made after driving my car, that kinda bothers me, that's why i posted.

Your friend probably just has the Ego upgrade:

It's good for ~20hp...

In his own mind.

Seriously, Wariow, has a good point. There are many factors involved, all the way to factory build variations.

Statistic for statistic tho, the 4th gen is lighter, as said above.

People are more likely gonna be bias toward another car if it's not their own. It sounds like he doesn't know what he is talking about. If still has the car, race his @ss!
