Any Interest in Carbon Fiber Headliner
Any Interest in Carbon Fiber Headliner
I was just lookin through ebay and saw something ive never seen before, Carbon Fiber Headliner. me and my friends were thinking this might be a pretty cool modification since we've never seen anyone with it before. I have a link to the auction on ebay below (unfortunantly its for an integra). This would be a strictly cosmetic mod since i doubt rhe shell could be lighter than stock, but i believe it will look sick and would be a good addition to someones interior if they have carbon fiber dash, and the door pannel inserts.... Lets try and build up some interest and maybe someone will jump on making these; Redlinemax, custom maxima, southwest autoworks......
P.S if you dont like carbon fiber dont discourage others by criticising and putting us down, we just want to individualize our cars

not critisizing but commenting on something...
if its 1 piece, you cant install it unless you remove your windshield. also, will this increase rattles or increase heat? i kno with the stock headliner, it absorbs heat from the roof...
other then that, i think it would look interesting...

i think the roof would be bad ***, turbo95max has me thinking now, i emailed the seller to findout how to install this, it obviously must be able to bend and flex in order to get it into the car to install it, ill post once i get a response. I hope someone decides to manufacture these, whn i get home ill email redlinemax and custommaxima to see if these can be made. I guess i should have made a poll to get a better grasp on interest, (hopefully a moderator can jump in and add an opion poll for people who would buy this and people who wont)

There was a vender that tried to generate interest on this previously. I think he owns a maxima too. Anyway, I think this is his website.
http://www.thepartsmall.com/
There were maybe 3 people interested at that time and I believe he needed 5 people to put down a deposit to get the mold made. If people really want this, $$$ talks.

guess no one is really interested in this type of product, theres an awsome shop around here that ive seen do some nice interior setups maye a couple months from now ill ask if they can make one for me. so i can be the 1st max with this. thanx for the replies guys
daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn this is a blast from the ancient past, lmao, i originaly made the thread, that vendor is long gone, he did do CF headliners and actualy had some nice ones, he gave me a price of 450, no sunroof, all one piece. i never got it done tho, maybe once i get everything out the way and i do my interior ill look around for a shop to do it.
I can think of all kinds of reasons why this is a bad idea.
1) no sound deadening from a hard headliner
2) buzzing and rattling if the fit isn't perfect
3) out-gassing from the epoxy matrix on hot days
4) sharp broken edges in the event of a crash
5) absolutely no performance advantage, so it's a ricer mod

I would have to agree on every point Stephen has made.
I like CF, but the headliner doesnt seem practical.
For those who are not familiar with the CF products that are made for our market they are very thin and fragile.
It would most definatly rattle, and in an accident it would shatter and break exposing the occupants to sharp, small pieces of both fiberglass and CF. Not too mention also breathing it in.
The smell from the resin/epoxy is strong. My hood and trunk both smell of it.
Although it would look nice, I wouldnt do it.
by the way guys, i agree on some of those points, but the company that makes them topheadliners.com....have this thing called flexi carbon, they have a video demonstration of how it works, it looks like the cf is backed by rubber or something....so i guess that sort of kills points 1-4 of stephan max's points....
