What is the best way of getting overspray off my rims without damaging them?

Try a claybar. It works for overspray on the body, I don't see why it wouldn't work on rims, too.

 

I used a clay bar on my rims after my car was repainted (accident repair). It worked good but was pretty tedious depending on the design of your wheels.

 

i used a heavy buffing compound called tru grit then followed up with some wax. wheels look better then they ever did

 

This should be a last resort. Always try the mildest possible solution first, and then work your way up.

Clay is a good place to start (if the wheels will accomodate this) because it is arguably non-abrasive.

 

Where can you pick up a clay bar? Would an auto parts store carry em? I've got what looks like a rubber scrape/smear that is on the bumper from a bike tire or something.

By the way though clay bar is the $hit for overspray. When the illegal immigrant painters oversprayed on my car parked next to where they were "painting" that's what the detail shop used to get that crap off.

 

Its made by mothers, its in a red box. I know auto zone and pep boys has them.
