Took The Alty To The MIR Meet: ETs Inside!!!

Went to MIR this weekend to the Maxima meet. There were alot of people there and the wheather was perfect for the most part. We got there right at the time the gates opened and I sat in te tech line for about 30min so my first pass was a little off. The car is bone stock and weighs around 3200-3400 I believe. I had the spare tire and jack IN the car along with my 2 12in subs/box. 1/4 tank of gas. Here they are...

1st

60ft 2.22

1/8 9.45 @ 75.68

1/4 14.69 @ 93.40

2nd

60ft 2.25

1/8 9.26 @ 77.51

1/4 14.41 @ 94.97

3rd- I tried taking the air filter/box out and seeing the difference

60ft 2.23

1/8 9.43 @ 76.63

1/4 14.54 @ 95.82

I picked up almost 1 mph on the top end, but obviously it hurt my ET. I lost some low end.

4th- Left air filter/box out

60ft- 2.23

1/8 9.41 @ 76.78

1/4 14.55 @ 95.36

So there you have it. I'm going to local track next week to try and see if it'll go any quicker. Gonna leave the box and spare tire/jack at home, and leave the air filter in. I think its got a 14.2-.3 in it. I think with a CAI and Cat-back I could be knocking on the door to 13s. I'd be happy as a clam for a 4dr daily driver NA

Oh yea, the kills are-

First run a ran a '78 Nova w/ mildly modded SBC. She ran a 14.89 @ 90 compared to my first run.

Second run was against a Acura Integra GSR with a poota pipe and intake. He ran a 17.21 @ 87 to my second run.

Fun day all in all. They had some decently quick Maximas too...

It's an auto.

Anybody know what the fastest 3.5 Altima bone stock has gone? I'm just curious. I wasn't expecting to go that fast. Also the fact that I think she's got a tad more in her...

You have a quick car Jon, congrats on the great times. The second run was outstanding, I think your car qualifies as a factory freak. How much does the subs/box combo in your trunk weigh?

Out of curiosity, why are you asking at THIS website what the fastest 3.5 Altima has gone? Altimas.net has a race forum where they are more than qualified to answer your question. As far as I understand, the Altima's have speed governors at either 125 or 135. If you're asking what's the quickest a 3.5 Altimas has gone, no clue on that one.

Thanks FERBS!

I'm guessing that between the speaker box/spare tire/jack, theres around 110-120lbs to be saved, or there abouts. It should be worth a tenth or two maybe. I think that 14.2-.3s are not out of the question.

I'm asking on this site because my account over at Atlimas.net is screwed up. It's been screwed up since I first signed up. I tried emailing the mods but haven't received any replies, so...

Plus I've got some Max buddies here locally. A really good friend of mine has a white 5sp '95 Max who was there on Sun (he postes on here). I can't remember what his screen name is though. Anyway, I thought that since the two cars aren't THAT far apart in relation (Altys/Maxs), I would be somewhat welcome Thought there might be some other Alty owners on here. Also thought that someone might know what the 3.5 Altys are "supposed" to run in the 1/4 stock, because the Max's come 3.5s, although I think the Altys are a little lighter...

Thanks Jon

Cool. 5spd Alti's should be good for 14.3-14.5 with good driver/good launch and Alti with AT should be good for 14.6-14.8.

I saw a road test one time in a major car mag (dont get me started on how bad they drive some cars), and they barely got a 14.99 out of the AT Altima. Please! That 14.99 must have been in 90 degrees with a 2.4 60' time. Our cars Max/Alti powered by the VQ35 are formidable, AT or MT.

I've always THOUGHT if I pulled up next to a 3.5 Alti I wouldn't race, we have the same engine, what's the point, . But that might all change when it ACTUALLY happens. We shall see.

Welcome to the org.

Those numbers are so fake its funny... 3.5l altima running a 16.76 ... I bet the 4cyl does a faster 1/4 than that... I've seen that chart before and it ****es me off that they are even allowed to post something like that.

that's why mag racing is so freakin retarded

The Alty's 16.7 time is a whopper! And I have never seen even the biggest track newbie here run a 15.5 in an 03 Maxima. Geez, even the 95-01 guys can do that stock with a "little" practice. And a properly driven 330i manual will do high-14's.
