CAI and Y-pipe, how loud?

I want to get an Injen or Berk Intake and a y-pipe but i dont want my '00 to get any louder if at all, is this possible? how much louder will the intake and y-pipe make the car?

Sorry to be a prude, but the Berk intake is not technically a CAI. It's considered a WAI (Warm Air Intake) because it collects air from the engine bay which generally isn't as cold as the ambient temperature of the sorrounding air.

About your question, I think with an intake alone it will be slightly louder, how much I don't know because I don't have mine yet, but from what I hear it's a "good" loud.

I don't think he said anything about the berk being a cai. As for the sound level, it is barely noticable a cruise if you have stock exhaust and at WOT it gives the engine a really nice deep tone(not to loud though).

it really does depend a lot on your style of driving. if you floor it a lot, then the intake will scream, and you'll get a loud resonance from the exhaust as well, if you stay off the gas, then it shouldn't be too loud.

The intake is barely noricable at cruising speed, but when you floor it, there's a really great deep sound.

with a y-pipe don't know doesn't have mine, give 1-2month!!

the only sound coming is gonna be from the intake.. y pipe doesnt add much to sound.. just a small rumble at WOT

I have the Injen and Cattman y-pipe. The y-pipe adds a little more rumble at idle & a little more growl at WOT. Highway cruising speeds don't seem too affected, although I remember hearing some increased noise, but not much. The Injen adds a deeper tone at WOT and I don't think I notice anything at all under normal driving other than the sucking sound, which is quite a bit louder than stock but you really only hear it outside the car, mostly at idle. No big deal IMO.

I've tried hard to keep the car from looking too flashy or being too loud. I don't believe either the intake or y-pipe affected the noise too terribly bad. You should be fine.

Look at the title of the thread.

once upon a time, i was worried about such things. i dont know about the berk, but regular driving w/ injen was barely noticeable in sound. with the y-pipe, it did add a grumble/low sound (not feel) that reminded me of (to a much much lesser degree) a v-8 mustang at idle. notice, it was much different, but the small lil growl it did make, it reminded me of a v-8 mustang. at a certain rpm, i think 2700, it made this droning type noise, but it all seems normal now that ive had the y-pipe on for about a couple of months. ive asked people who ride in my car occasionally if it got louder, and they said they didnt notice. however, ur 5500 rpm and up will be a blast... or was it 4500...... so to sum up my quick reply, injen doesnt make too much noise, y pipe noise will be a tad louder, but will be unnoticeable after about a month. the end

If your worried about extra sound, just get a Y-pipe+B-pipe w/ resonator instead of a CAI+Y-pipe.
