Noise after Stillen Sway bar install.

Well actually the Top Speed knock off, but here is the question. I was careful to follow the installation instructions and everything seems to be installed correctly, nothing feels lose. However at 37-40mph I hear what I can only describe as a metal drone coming from the back. Oddly enough you can only hear it at the speed mentioned above. I checked it several times to make sure nothing has shifted or loosened up, so I'm at a loss here. I'm almost tempted to take it off, spray the damn thing with Dynashield and put it back on. Has anyone experienced this? I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

Could be the fact that's it a poorly designed knock-off fake.
Was the car on level ground when you installed it? The sway bar hardly moves, especially when going straight. Sounds like a wheel bearing problem, or something was left loose and it's rubbing. Could also be the exhaust piping vibrating, if you messed with it recently.

Anything is possible I suppose, but I find it odd that the noise occurs at just that speed. The noise if very faint and is sometihng you have to listen for. I checked the exhaust and that seems to be on solid as well. As for the possibility of the wheel bearing problem, I suspect thats my culprit in a different sort of noise: I'm hearing (obnoxious loud road noise that refuses to go away, it is independant the tires I'm running and isnt affected by the RPM) Some time this week I think I'll re-pack the bearings in hopes of making that sound go away.
I'm very particular about noises in my car, and only worry about those I can't account for

I don't believe so, as both rear wheels spin freely.

I have the "real" stillen RSB and haven't had that problem. One thing is make sure you did not put the bar on upside down. There is a slight downward curvature to the bracket but I think it fits upside down, but might just slightly actually rub the axle if its upside down. This could cause vibration I suppose.

Could it also be that you pinched a brake line with the mounting brackets on the control arm, and one of your rear calipers is rubbing the rotor?

Only other thing I can think of is since its a knock-off, maybe the sway bar, for some reason, gets a harmonic resonance (due to the fact it may be hollow) at certain speeds (i.e. the harmonics of the exhaust make it vibrate just so to create a noise). Longshot, but who knows....

Perhaps this is something to consider as well. I'm not entirely sure whether the thing is hollow or not, the bar is approximately an inch and a half thick and does feel pretty solid, definitely not light. Just to be on the safe side though, I may put a couple of pieces of dynamat extreme on it, or spray it down with dynashield before I put it back on.
I'm also fairly certain that its not upside down as it looks exactly like what they show in the installation instructions (unless somehow those a wrong.) I do have a question for you though, on yours, how much space did you have between the bar and the axle?

I just went out and measured, and it looks like around 1/2 an inch or a little less. But its dark and I just used a measuring tape, and the car's parked on an incline, so that might affect how close I am...I recall there was about a finger's-width clearance when I first put it on.

Hmm, that may be my problem. I have less then 10th of an inch on mine. Going to have to see if I can adjust it tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

When I installed my Stillen bar, it had it too far forward and I got some vibration noises. I shifted it rearward 1/2 inch and the noises went away. Apparently the bar will rub on the cross link.

The correct info is:

When I installed my Stillen bar, it had it too far to the rear and I got some vibration noises. I shifted it forward 1/2 inch and the noises went away. Apparently the bar will rub on the cross link.
