Will the 6.5 Gen be getting the new 4.0 V6?
Will the 6.5 Gen be getting the new 4.0 V6?
Since 5.5 Gen had recieved a 3.5 that first appeared in the pathfinder... will the new 4.0 in the upcoming pathfinder (not armada) and Frontier find its way into the 6.5gen max?
I myself doubt it since "Torque Steer" is already a big problem with 3.5 max's/alti's

I would trade my 01'SE in immediately, and go get one. A six speed would be nice. I hope they don't pull a Honda and have a big integrated stereo/climate control panel. That ish sucks for any aftermarket upgrades. MMMMM...4.0.

4th gen about 190hp with a 3.0 liter 5th gen about 220hp witha 3.0 liter with less restrictive air flow, then you got 5.5 gen with 255hp witha 3.5 liter, some breathing mods with 6th gen about 265hp with 3.5 liter. So a half liter is approximately displacing an extra 25-35 hp. So a 4 liter in a max should show around 290-300hp. WOW, that would be alot of power to a front drive sedan, almost to much. I don't believe they would do that cause because that's to much power for the so called safe family sedan

By 6.5, I am assuming you mean the '06 Maxima, as the '05 will have few changes.
The AWD will eventually come, but it may not happen until the 7th gen ('08). The question is whether it will be a Maxima model unto itself, available on both SE and SL as options, or standard on all Maximas?
Since it took Nissan 18 years to move from the 3.0 engine to the 3.5, I would not expect the 3.5 to be replaced right away. The 3.5 can easily be boosted to 280, or probably even 300 or more HP. Nissan may decide that is enough power for the Maxima, which is not a heavy car.
The advantages of a 6 speed auto tranny over a 5 speed are not as great as the 5 speed over the 4 speed. Nissan may stick with the 5.
But I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night, so all these thoughts may be off base.

Ford is already coming out with a new car to replace (not right away) the Taurus with called the 500. It will have a CVT and AWD as options, but only a 200hp V6 to start out with.
Nissan will no doubt want to just "test the waters" before fully implementing AWD on it's flagship. So, I imagine it will only be an option when it comes out (like the G35).

6.5 gen with 4.0L V6 would be pretty nasty. Perfect plate for a 6.5th gen with 4.0L V6 6MT - MR 14 OOH. That car would be fast!

Says in this article that the 4.0L is a bored version of the vq35. The new engine produces 250hp and 271 Lb/ft. Wont rev as high with the longer stroke.

(What?!?! Uglier every year? I had a 4th Gen Maxima, and I could only call it "nice-looking". The 5th Gen improved on that, but the 6th Gen is the first of the Maximas to really have a standalone style. It's a head-turner and a crowd-pleaser, something the previous Maximas couldn't claim. The same can be said for the Altimas through the years. Can't comment on the "lesser" Nissans.)

And as if you haven't heard... coming soon to a Nissan dealer near you... the 2005 Altima SE-R. That's right. The Altima SE-R. Now we've really been shafted.
Nissan revealed plans to release the Altima SE-R at the New York International Auto Show this past weekend. They only released a one-liner statement on http://www.nissannews.com/ but stated that more information will be released around April 8th.

I think we're really lucky to be living in this period where automakers are once again ballsy enough to introduce advanced styling like the Maxima's, rather than stick with safe (boring) styling like Chevy Cavaliers and Ford Tauruses.
I don't know where you live, but I saw 3 Maximas yesterday (without even looking) ... and I've seen only one TL in the past week. (That's in the Dallas/Ft. Worth suburban area.) Maybe it's just that the TL is so bland-looking that I don't recognize them for what they are!

But People Ive talked to Just dont like the 6th gen... Or they were thinking about it, but it wasnt their first choice. I really dont think they left the altima in the dust in sales because I see many many altimas (the 4 cyl ones) here. And I def agree that a lot of these companies have too many boring designs... and I really dont like the camry. The cars I am really like is the new 2005 GS430 and the replacement for the M45.. It was called the Fuga... and for some reason, I really like the q45 and Fx45... and the LS430.

I really agree on the Fuga - at least the pictures I've seen of it. It's killer. There has been some speculation it will be the basis for the next generation of the Maxima as well as the Infiniti M's ... I hope so!

The Maxima definitely has much more distinctive and classier styling (opinion) if you ask me. It's grown on me a ton, and they're a lot more common around here now. The only thing I still don't care for is the tail - just a little bland if you ask me. Of course I haven't really cared for any Maxima tail ever though
except for 3rd gen SE tail, but that's about it.

We handle the torque steer and love it. its a great thing when your doing 60 mph and punch it and your tires break loose from shifting from 2nd to 3rd, the steering wheel pulls hard but because your used to it you know where its going and hold it right where it need to go while you scoot away from everyone else like they are standing still. Thats when you really begin to love your maxima even more!!
I've driven a maxima now for 9 years i guess torque steer worries is now a thing of the past for me
