Better low end??

I just installed my cold air and it helped my mid range a ton but I want a quicker jump off the line. Is there any easy things I can do or what have ya'll done to improve your low end

There isnt anything that is as easy as an intake but u could try a y-pipe. Its about $180, it takes roughly 2 hours to install and you will gain about 10-15 horses. As far as i kno, that is ur best bet.

What you need to do for the low end is exactly opposite of what you did.....take off the cold air intake and put the stock airbox back on. It is pretty much the general consensus that Cold air intake helps mid to high range horsepower and response. However, pretty much to date, nothing has shown to beat the throttle response and low end power of the stock box/setup.

A y-pipe would help your power. It does help under 3500rpm...it adds a lot of torque which is what you use off the line. It is a great mod, and takes nowhere near 2 hours to install. It is much easier than that, so go get one and do it.

yea i just got mine from warpspeed.....its just chillin in my garage waiting the weeken till it goes on...and it will take around 2 hours if ur bolts are rusted like mine, im think im gonna have to drill them out like i had to on my muffler. and its 160 shipped at the group deal, so u better get it quick before its gone...

In my experience with my mods, I have low end power with the intakes and exahust bolt ons but high end power more than makes up for it. If you want some that will get u off the line quicker (like at the track or something) I would say put a 50 shot on it. just my $0.02

maxima98vspec, if you will use some rust penetrating spray on it tonight and tap on the bolts and then leave it for the night. Then, tomorrow, do the same thing. Then Saturday, it should be loose enough that you can get the bolts off without having to drill them. It would be worth the try. I did this and had no problems.

aite guys...please read his question again

CAI usually has horrible throttle response, therefore kills a quick jump off the line. don't depend everything on modification, there's couple other things you can do to help you get a better jump off the line:

1. tighten your throttle cable, it helps your foot and gas pedal react a lot faster
2. pump up your all 4 of your tires +4 psi higher than whatever you have, now try again. although you lost some tracktion, but your tires are making less contact with the road, therefore better start.
3. you may wanna swap your CAI to short ram like above orgers said to improve throttle response.
4. weight deduction, clean up your car, throw craps outta your car.

then...

5. spend $$$$ on other performance mods

ugh...no. you don't spray when you take off. people usually spray between gears after they gain tracktion. if you spray, or even go WOT at a start u'll lose a lot of tracktion, and your engine wont' be able to transfer all the power to the wheels, therefore slower.

Ah CAI has WORSE lowend? Since when? It's the HAI intakes that soften the lowend a bit.

The CAI should help the low end by putting the intake's resonance frequency lower in the rpm band.

That's exactly what I was thinking....

go read a lot of other posts about all the different intakes. Those that have either short ram (just cone) with stock resonator, or the stock setup with the snorkel and all have the best throttle response. I am not saying they have the best top end, but better TR. Also, when you modify, sound does not equal better throttle response or more hp necessarily, although it might "seem" faster.

You know this directly contradicts all long / short tube theory right?

Lighter wheels will get you off the line quicker, assuming you don't spin them. Y-pipe should also help to some extent.

all I know, Jeff, is that more people than not have told me that the stock airbox has a little better low end torque and throttle response. I am not claiming to back any of this up with my own experiences as I still have only the stock airbox.

go right now to the group deals and get in on the Warpspeed y-pipe. It is excellent and easy to put in. It is $160 shipped and that is a very very very good price. The thread was started by budha56.
