APEXi WS v. Greddy SP2 Catback

I'm curious to know what everyone thinks of these two systems. With all the stories about problematic Y-pipe installations, I'm thinking of replacing my entire exhaust system after the headers. I'll have, for certain, a warpspeed Y-pipe and high flow cat and want to know which catback system would be better for the following critieria, listed in order of importance:

*Deep sound at WOT but otherwise quiet; nothing ricey or like bees in a can
*Performance gains
*Ease of installation

The APEXi WS can be bought for $430 shipped while the Greddy is $500 plus shipping. For those that think the Greddy is better, does it justify the price tag?

I got the Apexi WS from Adventon and they had it in stock and I received it in about 4 days. I really like the sound of it. My car sounds almost stock driving normally but at WOT it sounds awesome. I have some videos of it if someone will host them for me.

Apexi, I really like the low grumble of mine. Not too loud and not exactly stock.

sp2 is a dope exhaust plus its full stainless unlike the apex so no rusting. Its just such a new exhaust only 2 or 3 org members including myself have it..

I have the sp2 on my 96 Max. Install was easy, just PB Blast the bolts so you don't sheer them off. Fit's easily with 2 people working together on it. Sounds perfectly stock. I can't even hear it unless I'm revving at a standstill and even then my intake overpowers it. sp2 all the way. And you get a GReddy Badge! WOOHOO!

Ok, lets see. The WS is a POWDERCOATED titanium particle so I doubt it will have rusting problems. Mine has bee through 2 chicago winter and it looks brand new. Btw, SS rusts too it just doesn't rust THROUGH as fast, just so you know!

both apexi and greddy are great, but since apexi is cheaper i would go with apexi.

Go with the apexi...it a perfect exhaust from inside and out. The low growl that comes out of the exhaust is amazing. I love mine and i don't think that you will be disappointed...

I can guarantee you that if 97-99s had an apexi exhaust they woulf buy that instead of the gre(e)ddy.

you can have an apexi catback on a 97-99 just some slight modification that can be done at any local muffler shop.

will an apexi fit on my 97 I30? i already have a B-pipe that i just got on there, but my muffler's shot and need a new one. I wasnt sure if the apexi, being only for the 95-96 max's would fit mine, despite the fact that my 97 had retained all the older things that the 95-96 max's had. For example, my foggy (non-clear) headlight housings and older style steering wheel resemble the ones from 95-96 max's, which were all updated on the max for 97 but my 97 I30 still has them (stupid nissan took until 98 to update the I30s to resemble the 97 max updates). so, was hoping that the exhaust situation would be the same, where mine would resemble the undersides of a 95-96. Anyone have any ideas about this (i'm in dire need of a new exhaust)?

How much horsepower did that Greddy badge give you?

On a side note, the OBX type-h is underrated. It is a great exhaust, sounds quiet when driving behind in another car, and has nice deep tone inside the car. At WOT, it's awesome paired with the intake. The only problem is alignment, but any muffler shop can fix that for you, or you can even do it yourself.

You have to have an O2 bung created in the midpipe.
The 95-96's have their O2 sensor in the cat.

Im pretty sure the 97-99s do as well. On my custom exhaust there is no O2 sensors on the catback. all of them in the cat.

I have the GReddy SP2 on my car the only thing I don't like is that the tip is so big it looks kinda ricey. I have a Y pipe too and at first I thought it was too loud but with the music on I can barely hear it. I dont have any of the bees in a can either so it's a good sound I need to get an intake though too and i'm sure it will all change. But if you have the money to spend I'd get the GReddy.

Greddy SP2 no contest. Exhaust is the ONE thing u DO NOT go cheap on. U will regret it, trust me. I have a 98 Max and the 95-96 Greddy SP2 fits PEFECTLY on it, simple bolt-on. The tip is beautiful and fits flush into the factory muffler cut in the bumper, no rubbing on the bumper either. The Greddy logos etched on the sides of the tip are GANGSTA. For u east coast playas, the stainless steel will definitely benefit u. Even in So Cal, ss is nice. I have a cai, y, and greddy sp2. At idle, sounds stock, throughout the rpm range the sound is beautiful. Refined, deep, and rumbles lika V8. No rice wutsoever and not loud at all. And trust me, I am very sensitive to loud exhaust(i go to the University of Civics and Integras). Coupled with the PR cai, and WS y-pipe, the performance gains are outstanding. Straight thru design with the honey-comb designed resonated b-pipe that gives u optimium performance and a tru 2.5 inch exhaust system. Pay a little more for the best. U will be happy with it and it will last u.

I love my GReddy SP2. My friends give me sh*t about it looking ricey, and they think it sounds like a vacuum at WOT, until then, I can barely hear it at all. Not ricey, that's the reason I got it. Please excuse the 5-post count, I'm a lurker, not much of a poster usually, but I'm working on turning that around. I think it's worth the price difference. Just my $.02

I have teh greddy sp1, and love it. At first i thought it was too quiet, but it's perfect for me. I'm assuming the SP2 would be the same. One thing about the APEXI WS, its a quality exhaust, but the piping is only 2.25" in diameter. The greddy is 2.5". They both sound good, and look good.

i actually ahve the obx type-h, and i feel like it's loudest at the lower rpm range. above 3k i hear mainly intake sound.

Thanks,

From what I know they stopped making the Maxima application. I have sent emails to about 6 online stores who have it listed on their sites, but none have responded to let me know if they can still get it or not.

The Greddy SP2 is on back order for 6 weeks......which probably really means 3 months.
