Can someone tell me?

I have a 96gle with stock crappy springs/shocks. I want to install springs but can't afford $400+ kyb's etc.. So can I install springs with my factory shocks/struts? Has anyone done this before and has pics? How would it effect my ride? Also I want progress springs (1.7/1.4) can I still expect the same drop from them with factory suspension? Iam new on suspension....

Technically, yes you can ...

But, you have to keep in mind that your stock struts weren't designed to be constantly compressed as much as they will be when you throw on a set of lowering springs. So, they'll wear out faster and possibly not perform as well.

Your struts won't effect your ride height, your springs however, will. As a general rule, you should replace your struts when your buy new springs because they work together to achieve your handling result.

lol

well, the SE shocks are different than the other models. I am running Eibach pro-kit springs on SE shocks.. around 100k miles, no probs. Then again, the eibach dropped the car no more than 1.5 inches.

You ever see those little honda boys bouncing down the road? 90% of the time it is because their shocks are not matched with their springs. (Do not fool yourself and think that these "coilovers" as they are now commonly called are actually matched to the car or even to eachother.) You are asking your stock shocks to damper a stronger rebound and do so in a shorter stroke. Your car will not handle to the potential of your springs. Your call but whatever you decide have fun and enjoy it!

Save up and wait to get a good deal on the GROUP DEAL section of the forums or hit the classifieds.
