Let me know if I am doing okay?

I went to the track and got a 15.7. I had the car for less than a month at the time and it was completely stock. The funny thing was that there was about 5 Maximas their and they all ran 16.2-16.5 with mods such as Y- pie and intake.
I did not have much experiance at the time with the car but I thought I was doing alright concidering thir times.

I have the car now for 2 months and have made some mods like CAI by Injen, Denso Plugs since thier was Autolite plugs in their, new fuel filter, and gear oil.
Hopefully I can go back and beat my time from before and try not to drive the car for three hours before i run without some cool down.

Anyone have some suggestions?
Thanks

I assume that you are an auto? If so, then that is a decent time. I assume that this track/your town is at some sort of an elevation.

What do you mean by "... try not to drive the car for three hours before I run without some cooldown" - are you trying to cool the car down or run it non-stop WITHOUT cooldown?

In my experience (with an OBDII scanner plugged into my ECU) I found that doing back-to-back-to-back... runs was optimal for engine operating temperature. However your transmission might not mind a break... especially if it is hot outside. My coolant temp. was consistently at about 181 degrees +/- 5 degrees when I ran.

Everyone is telling the time is bad, what did you guys run stock with only driving your car for three weeks? I was beating the other Maxima at the track that night. I am asking for suggestions. I have not run my car with mod yet!!!!!!!!

We can't help you unless you tell us what kind of altitude you run at, what the weather was like, and post a full slip.

Spark plugs, fuel filter, and gear oil are not mods. So you must have a 5spd if your using gear oil, not auto tranny fluid????

Sorry, my mistake... in my original post I mis-read it as you saying that you have mods. For a stock auto gen 4, 15.7 is quite good... but again as Mike said, we need more information such as temp, humidity, elevation. What was your trap speed?

I see in your profile that you have a GXE... does it have any options such as leather and power stuff/auto climate control, blah blah? Is it auto/stick? Please post more details and then we can help you out more.

I do have power windows, cloth seats, 5 spd, steel wheels. I did have 2 aftermarket mufflers in the trunk and did not play with tire pressure. Just recently found out thier was autolite platinum plugs in car and swapped with the denso iridiums. It was also my second track run of my life, so who knows maybe next time i will kill a good time.

Yeah you will do better your next time out. If you are running on stock tires lower the pressure right down to 22 psi and maybe play with lower pressures too - 18 psi for example. What was the temp. and humidity when you ran 15.7? Also, do you know the elevation above sea level that this track is at?

here's an example for you....my slip from last night in my slow *** Max....96 auto...loaded...everything but ABS....3/4 tank of gas...extra amps and sub box with 2 12" in the trunk.....10pm about 55 degrees in sunny FL so low alt

rt .018
60' 2.447
330 6.816
1/8 10.380
mph 69.57
1000 13.424
1/4 16.020
mph 86.87

can't say I'm happy with these #'s I expected high 15's (15.7 +/-) does this lock normal..suggestions

I suggest the following the next time you go:

- Go with 1/4 tank or less of gas
- Take at least your subs out... and your amps if they come out easily
- Deflate your front tires to about 22psi... you could play around +/- to see what works best for your 60' times

The weather sounds perfect for racing... you can pull some awesome times in that air at that altitude. You'll be back with high 15s easily! Good luck!

This is platinum. I dont know how to stop a thread from showing back up again. This is my old post. I did finally go back and with my clutch slipping I got a 15.3. I have a new act clutch sitting in my lap. Going to get in the minute I find a lightened flywheel. I did dought you guys before but I have gotten better since. I recieved a free run for perfect reaction time. I also had a .604 reaction on my other run. wich was a 15.41. I will update when I go back again.

FYI, your reaction time does not count towards your ET and isn't even a factor unless you are bracket racing or in competition.

Congrats on the improved times. Clutch will help your launch... not a huge difference for ET though... too many other variables.
