My New Bi-Xenon Projector Headlights *Pictures*
Well, I have been hard at work and school lately, and I decided to start a little project the other week. After waiting forever-and-a-day for the Umnitza deal and other deals, I gave up waiting and decided to do the job myself.
I purchased a set of Hella E-Code Bi-Xenon Projectors with the 4300k Hella HID Kit from HidTech. I also purchased a set of Hella Mercedes Projector Bezels.
After sampling the projectors in to two older 95-96 headlights I had laying around, I finally felt comfortable enough to try it on a set of 97-99 headlights I purchased earlier. So here is the end result:

If you want to view the rest of the pictures, just go to my webpage, http://www.cardomain.com/id/semaxgroup . I hope you all enjoy. Let me know what you think.
I will post night-time pictures when the time comes......

Very nice also IMO!!! I believe the kit from HiDtech is like $379 or something...plus the bezels plus his time you're looking at close to $650-$700 a pair...oops forgot the actual light housings...add that in too

Ok, sorry everyone, I was posting this right before I went to work today. So, ok, here is the run down.
$450.00 - Hella Bi-xenon Projectors with Ballasts and 4300k bulbs
$145.00 - 97-99 Maxima headlights
$85.00 - Hella Projector Bezels
That totals to about $680.00 after parts and shipping. It wasn't too bad because I bought everything within a two week (two paycheck) time period, so it didn't hit the wallet like most would think lol (mentally that is).
The install took me about 20 hours MAX, most of that time was spent on painting and finishing off the Hella Bezels and making sure they fit perfect. It took only about 20 minutes per headlight to cut out the back of them with a 3.5" hole saw, and cut little grooves in the headlight for the actual projector lense "holders" to slide in and lock in to. The projector fits VERY VERY snug inside the headlamp, and silicone was used to seal the projectors to the headlamps.
The actual bezels were about 4.25" in total diameter, and if you know the inside of our headlamps, they are 4" in total height. So a good bit of cutting and trimming was needed to make those suckers fit. And on the test headlamp, when I was PUSHING the bezel onto the projector, it would always scratch the headlamp housing as it was being installed. MUCH effort was used to prevent this from happening on the good headlamps, it barely scratched the driver's headlamp ever so slightly on the bottom, but it doesn't bother me as it is almost impossible to see.
Afterwards, driving, it is a totally different ball-game. The beam pattern is AWESOME and the light output is just amazing. I actually ENJOY driving at night and driving by other people, with them looking at me and my projectors lol. As soon as time permits, I will get you all some good night shots, as I am still spending time PROPERLY aimming them, which is a whole task within itself.
Thank you all so much for the good comments. After seeing a few people make their own, and getting these good compliments on them, it makes a guy feel good, thanks all......I will get those night-time pics ASAP.....
BTW Slimer, my charge piping on the turbo kit comes no-where near the projectors. The piping that comes up into the engine bay from the passenger's side comes within 2 inches of the passenger's side upper headlight bucket adjuster thingie.....

I see you have some yellow in your 4300k setup too and I thought it was just a Catz thing. You will get unbelieveable light output to the road though, even in the rain. It's amazing.
Great job on the retro fit. It looks just like mine. I was wondering what this would look like on a white max (my original color) and it looks hot.
This is was what I was telling people you could get the same set up I have for much less. Just do the work yourself.
Welcome to the ranks,(Geo , Mad, Myself and now Ramius83)
Your are now part of the FEW, the Proud the HIDS!
Great job!

Very nice.. I love seeing these threads. One thing that I really couldn't figure out is how do you know if the projector lenses are both at the same angle compared to the other. (horizontally, and vertically). It seems like it would be very likely to have one pointing up higher than the other, or is there a way to adjust the lense after it's mounted?
I was considering trying this for myself, and I'm just looking to get as much information as possible.

Again, thanks all for the compliments.
ch13f: The bottom of the actual projector has the solenoid located on it. So really, you cut the whole for the projector in the headlight, test fit the projector in it and do a "test-install". I turned on the HIDs and projectors while they were free-floating in the headlamp. When I got the beam pattern perfectly level, I marked corresponding points on the headlight and the projector.
I am still waiting to get these things aimmed right before I take the pictures. I thought that I had them aimmed just about right, but it is still a little too far up and to the right too much.
Patience all, patience lol.......

That was back in the day when we were attempting the two lamp design with those Hella 90mm units from Susquehanna Lighting. That project never really worked because I couldn't get them to fit right in our housings, which makes me wonder how that other .orger did it......

I just started this project the other week. It really wasn't my top-secret project, I just didn't tell many people until I had finished it. Thats all.......
