Anyone shorten their automatic shifter?

Has any automatics cut their shifter down like arrafio? Any write- ups, How-to's, or suggestions?

probably to not stand so tall so it doesn't get in the way of stuff? i installed a razo gun grip ricey shift **** and pushed it down further. there are 3 screws(or 2 i forget) on the backside and i just lowered it down one more so it wouldn't stand so tall. it's more asthetically pleasing and doesn't get in the way of my cd player or storage areas.

Because it looks better lower....if you go to araffio's page, you will see how his levoc shifter sat low, this is due to him cutting 2" off the rod. I was wondering if anyone else did this and if they had any suggestions. This is just for looks.

Easy...Go buy a pipe cutter from a hardware store. Cut, drill and tap new holes. I only cut about 1/4" from mine. I'm going to cut another 1/2" and that should look good enough.

Cut 1/2". I'm going to cut it another inch when I eventually get a 5spd shifter trim plate.

Ok guys......after searching for a while, I found something where we can get the basic idea.....here's the link:

http://rayrayonline.bravehost.com/shifter.htm

I'm gonna try this as soon as I recieve my shift ****. But 1MAX2NV.....you say I will have to drill new holes? I asked arrafio and he said nothing about drilling new holes.

(Blue2k2: If you go to cardomain you will find araffio's page under nissan maxima...he's usually the first or second one....if you go down to the pics where he was automatic....u will see how low his levoc shifter is.)

Anymore suggestions from people who have done this will be appreciated.

It all depends on what kind of shift **** you are going to use. If you use a universal one, it most likely be set screws. You don't need to drill and tap new holes since set screws will hold the **** on to the rod. But I'm using an OEM Celica shift **** and it's like Levoc or the OEM shift ****. It uses mounting screws.

Here's a picture of what I'm talking about. See the two black screws.

Here's a picture of the Celica shift **** on my max. It looks funky right now that's why I need to cut another 1/2".

Doesn't the levoc shift **** have both the mounting screws and 3 set screws on the bottom?

Yes, the levoc does have both so it's up to you how you want to secure the shif ****.

To my knowledge this cannot be done to the 2K2 due do the shifter design. However in short I put a shift boot on inverted upside down, zip tied it near the shifter, then flipped the boot over the **** and secured it underneath the shift plate and between the PRND21 console.

Where do you find those shifters at. I found them but
the company said that they don't ship to the U.S.
IF any one could tell me it would be greatly appresitated.

Thank You
