Best car cover for the Max?

I'm going to be buying a car cover soon, does anyone here have one for their Max? If so, what brand is it and how do you like it? I was thinking of buying one from California Car Cover (their Stormweave fabric), they seem to be pretty quality...ease of use (quick on/off) and no flapping-in-the-wind is most important to me if that matters...thanks

bump..
i was wanting to find one as well. something with locks or pading as well. even thought about making one but ehhh...

i only think a great non scracth fabric is like flet or velux materal. that stuff is soft and should be lined in a cover.

neway, someone got some good ideas for a carcover too?

seriously guys, you might want to check out a "higher end" car forum (BMW, Mercedes, Porche, Jaguar) and find out what those guys are using to protect their "babies".

Also check out http://www.autopia.org. It's mostly a detailing forum, but I'm sure you can find some discussions on what kind of covers work best on cars.

I used the Nissan cover on my car as it sat outside this past winter. It worked ok I guess, its not very padded nor very durable. I think its more of an inside cover. There are a bunch of little holes all over it now I assume from animals running around on it. It did its job tho for the 85 bucks or whatever I paid for it and it kept the paint nice when my car got egged in my driveway over the winter too. Just 2 eggs hit it tho, both glancing shots not direct, my caddy had like 4 eggs hit it cuz it was parked kinda blockin the max.....Ive been lucky getting egged so far, caddy has been egged twice and they have only directly hit the rear window, windshield, sunroof, and skimmed the side, no direct hits on the paint. I wish i knew who did it......

It was the OE Nissan made one specifically for the max. Fit like a glove. Bought it from my local dealer who also happens to be on the org so I got a discount. JRNissanParts. Dont remember the exact price, but it was between 85-95 bucks i think, I also picked up the cable lock for it which was probably a waste of money but o well.....

Cool, does that one have cutouts for the mirrors? My main objective with having a car cover is keeping prying eyes away from the car after I put on all my goodies next month - I could care less if a bird ***** on it overnight, etc.

How easy was it to put on and take off, did it fold up small? Thanks again for the info Steve

Do you think if I have an exhaust tip that protrudes beyond the bumper that it will melt that cover?

One of the best car covers you can get for your Max is made by a company called NOAH. I have had it on all winter. It is both very durable and breathable. It is custom fitted to my max (97) and they make one for your 2000 as well.

Hope this helps!

The Nissan cover does have mirror pockets, like I said its a perfect fit. It fit very snug with my body kit and covered up my exhaust tip. It is very easy to put on and take off and I could fold it up pretty small. You will want to be sure that the car is clean and with a good coat of wax before you go putting it on and off mainly because the cover will move around the dirt and cause swirls and scratches, also because the dirt will get into the covers underside and that will also cause scratches and swirls. As far as melting the exhaust, I always waited until my car cooled down for a couple hours before I put the cover back on the car.

Ah ha...see, I was thinking I could just come home at night throw the cover on, and take it off in the morning - another scenario is on trips and whatnot when the car is parked somewhere for an extended length of time throw the cover on and take it off when needed.....it sounds like there's a decent amount of prep time that needs to go into it before putting the cover on....I suppose that I could use it without the prep work in some instances, knowing that it could cause some damage to my paint...

...again, thanks for the info Steve, I think i'm just going to go with the Nissan one and the cable lock and just wing it - like i said my main concern was prying eyes, especially while i'll be on vacation this year. Thanks again!

Yeah I guess you could just put it on and off whenever, just be careful puttin it on and off if it is slightly dirty, like try not to rub the material around on the paint too much. Also, FYI the cover says NISSAN on the front in fairly large letters, dont know if this will bother you, just lettin you know that the make of the car under the cover wont be a mystery to passers by.
