I heard that Carburator cleaner was bad for throttle bodies. Somthing about removing the special coatings. Any comments ?

They make "throttle body" cleaner as opposed to carb cleaner. Don't know what the real difference is, but I figure to use the right stuff for our car.

Cleaning the TB and changing the fuel filter will make a big difference if it hasn't been done in a while. Easy to get at the fuel filter with the intake and TB taken off. BTW, since you're changing your plugs, don't waste too much time looking for the "wires" - since our cars don't have plug wires... coil on plug system.

if it is reaaaaal dirty you should get rid of some hesitation which will make it feel better.

i was also told to stay away from carb cleaner for that reason, whether it's true or not, i still bought throttle body cleaner which was right next to the carb cleaner.

Put a little(couple spoons) dexron II or III ATF(automatic tranny fluid) into each cylinder(hole you see after you take out spark plugs). Sorry for the parenthesis but I'm guessing you wouldn't understand what I was saying. Just a little warning, when you fire up the car make sure it's outside or the exhaust is pointing to the outside.

Dude i am sure one spay of carburator cleaner will not harm the throttle body. I have done it and it didn't do anything but clean it.

So with those instructions, it says to spray the cleaner right in the TB with the plate wide open.Does that cleaner just burn off if you can't wipe it all away?.

I was wondering why as well?
I did see this last night on Monster garage last night when they were trying to get a car started.
What does it do?
